I just drilled RICO on my Results+. I absolutely LOVE it. Not too weak. Not too strong. Doesn't overhook. It does exactly what I was hoping it would do. So far I'm noticing that it kind of leaves a bunch of flat 10s but I think once I practice with it and have more familiarity, I'll be able to bring those 10s down. Can't wait!

I have a good amount of bowling balls especially the venom shock , cobra and panic that have pon im palm and i love it . I won my first adult tournament with my venom shock pin in palm and it was at milwaukie bowl home of dave husted pro am and regional open.

I had my OG Rotogrip Wrecker drilled. RICO or label leverage, that ball was a monster for me that way, I know alot of bowlers hated that ball but Rotogrip made it for a number of years. that drilling got it down the lane and man did it hit when it turned to the pocket.

I have a Halo Vision with the RICO, and love it. It's my go to ball for tournaments when my UFO is too strong, and my Nuclear Cell is too snappy on the back end.

The RICO layout was my favorite drilling that I'd use on house shots in league primarily, but also was useful in tournament conditions, and scored quite well with it. For my game it allowed me to play straighter and stay right of everybody else who already migrated inside and basically created my own line to the pocket. Only if the lanes were dry or scorched was when I couldn't use it. The old school videos by @BrunsNick himself is where I discovered the layout years ago and decided to give it a try. It was on several of my symmetrical balls before the weight hole restriction rule changed the layout's fate. I reached out to BrunsNick a while back and asked him if there was any way RICO could live on sans weight hole and he told me no, absolutely not. I'm not sure if this video confirms it or not, but either way I miss using the RICO layout.

I'm getting my 13lb DV8 Outcast drilled with this to see if I like it. if I do I will next have a Danger Zone Vintage or Twist drilled with it since they are 14 lbs before I drill the 2 balls I use the most with it. a Melee Blood Red and a Vapor Zone Hybrid

Would like to apply this to the New Black Widow Ghost Pearl I am about to buy. Have a pin in palm layout on an old Brunswick Imapact reactive urethane ball. Was drilled this way in early 2000’s. First real ball I ever bought. It’s very smooth out of my had compared to my other ball that is more of a pin up layout. Getting back into bowling and learning about PAP. How to find mine etc. What key points should I talk to my pro shop operator about in regards to laying out an asymmetric ball this way? Any helps in this matter is appreciated!

so RICO is supposed to even out the ball motion front to back and give a controllable down lane roll. what is the difference between a short pin layout and RICO because i feel like both layouts are based on the same concept?

Question, what if I would use a mild asymmetrical ball like the Motiv venom recoil ? Because I actually loved my venom Panic symmetrical Rico years ago. Vs I was thinking to use the ufo alert I have and do that.

The lower the intermediate diff is the smaller effect it will have on the shape. The idea is to have your PAP migration move towards less resistance for a longer period of time with out a high total over all diff. Using intermediate diff, from a weight hole or the PSA of the ball, should make this happen just will be lower on a Recoil and higher on a UFO Alert would have much more. Hope that helps

@@TheBowlerDepot yea I just did the Rico layout on The One Remix with it’s super high intermediate diff. My Rico layout maps 55x 4 x 95. Using “blu print” the migration path goes down towards the thumb hole. I don’t remember the after drilling numbers though.

What does this do for someone who has all speed around 12-14mph and rev rate between 200-240? I love balls that hook alot and love to either use strong pearl or a hybrids and solids with like 1000 grit for surface. Currently throwing the lock and snap lock...as well as a hot cell. All of them have storms 4x4x2 on them.

Essentially just less Intermediate Differential (Mass Bias).

The EVO pearl actually has more intermediate diff so would have a bigger effect on the ball. Simulating a larger “weight hole”

I know it isn't the main point of the video, but it would have been nice to see the Axiom before the weight hole and then after the weight hole. Would have tied in how the reaction is different in a symmetric with and without the weight hole.

What is the big difference between the rico drilling and doing a short pin drilling?

Short pins are meant to reduce flair, where the main objective of this layout is to lower RG, and to increase the Differential.

Ok I’m getting the maximum results by radical. As a Rico layout it has 2.49 diff and intermediate diff 0.30 so I’m going to try it on that ball. What dose everyone think about this?

This was created to see if you could still get the same outcome of a RICO layout without a weight hole. The Axiom would 100% be illegal but the Proton Physix gives you a similar look without a weight hole using the PSA as the "weight hole", which is still legal and would have likely been illegal under the old 1oz rule.

Not a hater but it's still not a true rico because the psa on the sym would be between the thumb and the balance hole and the asym the psa is the mass bias so unless you put the mass bias on the psa on the sym it's not a rico

Pretty sure the weight hole in the original RICO layout would pull the PSA off of the thumb towards the hole. And considering the size hole used, it is probably closer to that hole than the thumb. So using the asym without a hole should be fairly close, and I believe they demonstrated that.

I would say for a two hander should try putting the pin in a finger. Ring finger for stronger(early) version and middle finger for weaker(later). Keeping the mass bias at a 45 degrees. For some if you have less tilt you would need to keep the pin in ring or even right of that, would be to weak otherwise.

So I don't think there was an achievement or accomplishment....we wanted to see a symmetric ball not an Asim..we new, well I knew the Asim would yield the results...cause it has a Mass Bias

This is a good point, I believe there was somewhat of a consensus that RICO on symmetric balls was dead. So getting that reaction/ball dynamics with a weaker cover is likely not going to happen any more. The two balls in the video happen to have the same(similar) covers so it was the closest to apples to apples we could find. Thanks for the comment
