Sadly, i actually believe this is prob true, and i'm not even joking! This is basically a generation before me and footage like this had always been dated, but there's an innocent openness in making horrifying plasticene corn dollies and sheaf earrings which is completely free of a dopamine economy of "likes and views". No doubt, if i had a child, 100% would rather they make hideous grass imprints on clay than be on the internet. I know there's good things on the internet too, but it changes everything about attention and learning skills and to a large extend has wholly removed wholesome noodling for no purpose other than experimental creativity from our loves. When you see kids actually literally start to hanker for _wholesome_ as though it is as impossible commodity to come by, indeed a bygone, it's pretty telling. Even a grandmother talking about hydrangeas can these days captivate millions of views from lonely children. Of course, this stuff is deeply uncool, but that's kinda the point. I think we've got it wrong. Irony is great, but too much sophistry for kids can't be. Let them have hideous daggy crafts, the kind not even a mother could love, pointless ones, it's exactly the sort of thing they need a massive injection of.
