@@jonathanparker1774 true. I'm 45, and I've found that excersise has helped me feel younger to a point. I was really starting to feel older about 3 months ago before I started working out. I started by excersising 3 times a week, and that hardly helped at all. 3 times a week is more of just maintenance at my age. It was only after excersising 5 days a week for several weeks that I started feeling a few years younger again. And even then, there are other things that the excersising doesn't do which reminds you of your age such as pulling muscles more easily. I was jogging, but pulled my ankle pretty bad last week, and switched to riding my excersise bike. And I pulled it even though I always warmed up and stretched real good. And my muscles ache more than they used to after sleeping in certain positions, excersising doesn't change that at all. And excersing will only make you feel maybe 5 to 10 years younger again tops no matter how old you get (you can feel maybe 35 again when 45, 45 again when 55), you'll never feel 20-something again no matter what you do when you're in you're 50s. You can still feel good, just not with 20 year old energy and less strain-able muscles

@@Jason_Voorhees. excersising can help you feel younger to a point. But the problem is if you've always been an athlete, is you're comparing your limits to what your limits were when you were younger, and your limits will always decrease with age. Like if you're 45 and out of shape, you can make yourself feel several years younger again if you get fit. But if you're someone who used to at 25 be able run 10 miles when you were always keeping fit back then, and now you can only do 3 or 4 miles while staying fit, you're going to see and feel the regression in comparison, and thus feel older

@dodolord

Because this film series is actually incredible to watch, it isn't just a buddy cop movie, it's not just action and explosion, there is a lot of heart... Lethal Weapon 1 shows a glimpse of the hellish existence that Riggs endures daily, the bit where he pus the gun to his face and at the last minute stops, the bit where Riggs almost nearly shot himself had Roger not put his hands between the hammer and the end scene where he hands his bullet and says 'I won't be needing this anymore' are all such poignant moments, they illustrate the demons Riggs had battled with and how when he opened up to Roger, he had some semblance of peace in his life, a purpose. pt 2 is essentially about Roger, and how he needs Riggs too, the toilet scene, the scene at the end when he thinks Riggs is going to die, cements that its a 2 way street and the two reluctant partners are more than partners, they are brothers. Pt 3 my favourite, cos Riggs is finally complete, he finds his soulmate in Lorna, and the middle scene when Roger and Riggs are on the boat and it gets emotional, when Riggs says I have 3 beautiful children and they're yours... And at last the fourth chapter shows the legendary Riggs getting old... These series are awesome, a lot of feels, and it would've been nice to have perhaps one more chapter but alas... on the other hand the series is awesome and does justice :) that's my opinion anyway

@@dodolord Exactly. The Lethal Weapon saga is similar to the first Die Hard film in many ways. A blast from start to end, legendary action sequences, great pace but also great character development, heart and humanity underneath all the explosions. That´s why those films broke the mold in the 80´s by showing that an action flick could also have depth, emotional impact and not only corny lines and invincible heroes. I think a next Lethal Weapon movie is not totally necessary, but damn I would pay my whole salary to watch it if came out. Just hope they do the originals justice if it happens.

This scene hits me hard. When i was young i was like Riggs "i'm young, i can do whatever i want, i don't care" and nowdays i'm starting to feel like him, starting to feel my body can't do what it used to do before and thinking "that can't be, i'm only.....Jesus" And my moral consciousness is saying the same like Murtaugh "Yes, you're only. How about that? Finally" and i'm starting to feel depressed. He's right, you can't beat the clock!

A while back I was talking to a friend of mine and during the conversation we realised that it had been 20 years since we left high school. Neither of us had thought about it until one of us wondered how long ago it was. We can't be that old, right? Yes. Yes we are. And my hairline is looking a lot like Murtaughs now. I was a literal child the first time I watched this movie.
@alvexok5523
@alvexok5523 Жыл бұрын
@@PumpkinHoard Yeah. I was in my early 20s at the time, I'm 48 now, and I must say I didn't feel that old in my early 40s, which is how old Mel Gibson was in this scene, he was born in 1956, this movie came out in 1998, so he was 42 here, even though his character Riggs doesn't state his actual age, just says "I'm too old for this shit". I didn't feel that old at 42, and still don't really feel that old now, my dad was still pretty youthful in his 40s and he didn't really start feeling old until he was pushing 60. But I get that it's different when you're doing a more physically demanding job such as being a police officer, chasing bad guys down streets like Riggs was doing here, that type of work can start taking its toll once pushing 40 or so. Because basically, Riggs and Murtaugh haven't so much been saying that they're too old, they've been saying that they're too old "for this shit" meaning too old for the demands and tolls that being a cop takes on you. Anyway, this is still a good scene. I've always liked the Lethal Weapon movies

For some reason this generation considers themselves "old" at 30. Some of them even consider themselves "old" at 25! Strangely enough 30 year olds back in the day were more "adult" but they didn't consider themselves "old". In fact, 30 was still considered young. But I guess it's become trendy to say "Ohhhh I'm so old!". It's really sad.

gpapa31 lol I agree on that. Well there is talks of a 5th one. So maybe they will get a younger guy with them that will tell Riggs that. I am excited if they do make another. But at the same time I want it to be right. The 4th one was a good way to end the franchise. The only thing I can think of story wise is there is some younger guy just starting out his career as a cop. And Murtaugh and Riggs are asked to work with him to show him how to be a cop. And then he is able to be a cop without them, but they agree to still hang out sometimes. And at the end of the film he gets partnered with another young guy but older then him.And they meet similar to how Riggs and Murtaugh met in the first film. And Riggs and Murtaugh think back to when they met and they go those two are going to be us.

I think the thing that really hits here is what they both do for a living. The people they deal with are only getting younger and better armed. Like the armor piercing bullets from LW3. It's not Riggs' ego, not entirely, it's that he can't do the job anymore. The job that kept him alive, from using that bullet. With everything that's happened and how far he's come since then, there is probably a very dark voice in the back of his mind whispering that if he ever stops so will he.

@paulallen8109

Make that 47-48. Bear in mind this film takes place in 1998. Riggs spent his youth as a special ops in Vietnam. It takes a few years of hard training to become a special ops soldier. The last form of action in Vietnam was in 1972 at what point most U.S. Troops were sent home. Let's say Riggs was 22 years old in 1972. He would be born in 1950. Somebody born in 1950 would be 48 in 1998. Simple. Riggs can't be 38-39. If so he would have been born in 1960 and that would have made him 12 when the American involvement in Vietnam ended. Riggs was part of the CIA Project Phoenix which happened 1965-1972. Here's the proof btw from the Lethal Weapon Wiki: lethalweapon.fandom.com/wiki/Martin_Riggs His birthday is October 16, 1949.
@paulallen8109
@paulallen8109 4 жыл бұрын
@@scottknode898 According to the Lethal Weapon Wiki Martin Riggs birthday is October 16 1949. He joined the army aged 19 and later became a special ops working for the CIA in the Project Phoenix program in Vietnam 1965-1972. He met Victoria Lynn in 1973 and married her. Victoria Riggs was killed in 1984 (what Riggs thought was a mere car crash) and is still grieving in 1987 when he first meets Murtaugh. If Lethal Weapon takes place in the same year as its release 1998 then Riggs is 48. The last American action in Vietnam was in 1972 at which point the war was quickly being abandoned and most troops sent home. Riggs does tell in Lethal Weapon 1 that he was part of a highly trained special ops during the Vietnam War, so even he was merely 20 in 1972 he'd still be 46 in 1998.

To OP. He can't have been only 38 for that would mean he would have born in 1960. In Lethal Weapon 1 it's revealed that Riggs was part of a special forces in Vietnam. The direct U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War ended in 1972. But Riggs would have been just 12 in 1972. 1950 is a more likely birth year, making his participation in the Vietnam War chronologically possible. And that means he's 48 in 1998...

Lmfao this is how I felt several years ago. I was so used to being able to go from the couch to 3 weeks of training and get my mile splits down to 6’s without too much trouble at all. I recall going through a training session for several months to prep for a race and was wondering “what in the hell is going on?” I was training, eating well, listening to my body and it seemed like I was working harder than ever to get my splits down. It was very very troubling for a competitive guy like me to ponder and ultimately accept. That I’m in my 30’s now and damn it… it’s not going to be as easy as it was in my late teens and 20’s to do what I used to do. I could run under 5 for a mile pretty easily and now I haven’t been able to break 5:15 going hard. Nearing my 40’s it’s a painful realization that age catches us all. Training sessions and goals have to be adjusted a little more to work with our busy schedules.

You probably just never let go of behaving like a teenager when you turned 20 and now it hurts that people find it pathetic with a person pushing 30 thinking it's ok to party and fuck like they're 17. Just a thought though. I'm sure there's lots of life left in you. If people just learned to become wiser as they become older they wouldn't feel so down about it. Then again, ignorance is bliss these days, truly.

I hate the idea of getting old, I’m only 28, but there is already so much I can’t do that I could in my teen years. I find myself saying lots “this is bullshit, I’m only...” just like Riggs was in this scene and the sadder part, my ex had the same response as Rodger, “you can’t beat the clock”

Wonder how old Riggs is supposed to be? Roger was 50 in part 1. Now lethal finale or lethal weapon 5 is in development. Smh. What’s the plot? They are getting revenge on someone who shot their nurse at the nursing home?

Who cares. That was the point of the movie. Honestly, if we wanna get technical, the sequels in general were ALL unnecessary. Riggs was a Lethal Weapon because he was suicidal and completely unpredictable. By the end of the first one, he's found a sense of sanity.... But I don't give a fuck. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover as Riggs and Murtaugh was sooo good. No matter what, it was always good to see 'em together... even if they were both too old for this shit
