As a major nerd who knows the lore well…it is both critiqued too hard and disappointing. There are legitimate issues and I can’t fault someone for being upset, but there is genuine good too. For me, the joy of seeing so much visualized, and truly the relationship between Elrond and Durin…those things really win me over. I give it a 5.5 or a 6, pretty ok with incredible room to grow. I’m REALLY hoping that they take the legit criticisms to heart and truly improve for season 2

The sand in the opening reminds me a lot of what happens when you put sand on a speaker and play different frequencies. My take on it is that it's a representation of the music of the Ainur, and the dark sediment moving through it is Melkor's discordant note in the music. (all cosmological, creation of the universe stuff in Tolkien's mythos)
@lordmelkor18712 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's how I interpreted it as well, the symmetrical and orderly beauty of it with a dark chaotic element creeping in

I've only just realized the actor playing Arondir is the same actor that played Qin, the Twi'lek they break out of jail The Mandlorian episode The Prisoner. I knew the voice sounded familiar.
@humandisaster182 жыл бұрын
The sand in the intro actually reminds me of the way the Valar used music to create and shape the world, especially when there's this darker bit of music comes in, it reminds me of how Melkor wove discord into their creation.

6:36 you nailed exactly the same thing I thought. People may find prequels to be a Waste since most of it could be so predictable whether it's events or charecters knowing if they'll live or die etc but it's moments like these where it can shine and it makes us appreciate the sequels even more on an emotional level of just the places of Middle Earth. We get here in the fellowship we're just like , " wow it kind of looks cool for an abandoned place , nice. Let's keep going now lol " but here we get to see it in its prime and why Gimli was in love just with the thought of coming here and meeting Balin ( also another reason that scenes more emotional of a prequel cause of the Hobbit. They made Balin such a respectful Amazing kind charecter. Made it even more depressing seeing the state of this place along with Balins grave to know he died along with a couple of the friends from the Hobbit movie like Ori. He turns out to be the one holding the book that Gandalf reads. ) Man , something here like this makes me appreciate prequels so much. Awesome accomplishment by the showrunners to enhance the Middle Earth experience like this . This is what makes it an even better experience when and if people decide to binge the entire tv show along with the 6 extended movies ( which I'm gonna be doing for sure when all 5 season's are out lol ) . I just can't wait to see how this show ends especially with all the shocking beautiful stuff we have so far. I feel like we seen so much already but we haven't even touched like 10 % of this show yet lol reaching to here is like 2 episodes out of 8 for this season. Supposedly like 9 hours I assume out of 50. We got alot of new Middle Earth to look forward too in the next couple year's lol and I'm ready for it .

This is such a good time for fantasy. I would say that it started in 2001 with LotR and HP, and then was recast with GoT in 2011, but it really feels like everyone wants to get in on it and do it well.

I thought the arkenstone was found in the lonely mountain in the reign of Thorin’s grand father. I’m guessing it may be mithrel, I believe that was found and mastered in Khazak Dum.

I think the opening is an allegory of the song of the Ainu (Song of creation), and when there's that black sand with drums, it's when Melkor decides to change the tone to his own ideas! Pretty awesome!

May be reading too much into it but something about the Stranger's actions feel like those of a being who may have been used to getting what they want by force in a previous life. The mind may not remember but the body does.

The hands that grab Arondir didn’t seem to be orc hands, they looked thinner, I think we’ll find he was saved not captured.
@Bayard15032 жыл бұрын
Did you not see the trailer?? he's put in a pit by the Orcs to fight... I mean I guess that could happen after the battle at the tower but it would mean his entire arc drags in this season.

@@Bayard1503 Maybe it'll go really dark, and we'll watch him slowly be corrected into an Orc, or perhaps that's what was happening to the villagers
@Sir_Alex2 жыл бұрын
If that's Gandalf I'm scared, kinda early for him to appear if I remember correctly. I think these 2 episodes are the setup for things to happen, let's wait for the next one.
@Bayard15032 жыл бұрын
Only an age too early. Everything about him screams Gandalf, his looks, speaking to insects, that darkness that appears when he's angry...
@Saphthings2 жыл бұрын
@@Bayard1503 There's hints of him visiting middle earth earlier than the third age in the Tolkien letters.
@hans471 Жыл бұрын
@@Saphthings nope ;-) In Tolkien's World the wizars are sent by the Valar to counsel the free people during the third age. Also they already appear cloaked in the shape of old men do not fall on the head upon their appearance. The latter would hinder their mission 😄 Read more in the unfinished tales. It is actually quite nice to read. Pallando+Allatar and Saruman+Radagas appear in pairs. Gandalf is the last one to arrive...

This show was much better than the naysayers claimed. I throughly enjoyed it. Charlie Vickers was awesome as Halbrand & Joseph Mawle was amazing as Adar but Owain Arthur crushed it as Prince Durin. All the actors were really good though. The only bummer was 8 episodes which flew by.
@hans471 Жыл бұрын
it'a an awesome show if we ignore all the plot inconsistencies, stupid character decisions and the complete desctruction of the spirit and laws of Tolkien's world! 😄

With the curves of the sails I think it's a Cortez ship. They have foreshadowed almost everything so far so they wouldn't mention the Cortez people unless they weren't showing back up. Loving this show. :)
@majkus2 жыл бұрын
You mean 'corsairs'. The use of the word may not be foreshadowing but a callback to the corsair ships that are taken by Aragorn and the army of the dead in Return of the King.
@nicholasjones12792 жыл бұрын
If you’ve listened to the soundtrack yet the theme that plays with that character on the ship is “Numenor”. So likely Isildur or Elendil
