I tell you what though, the fury wilder 3 fight as much as I thought was a waste of time and didn’t need to happen didn’t disappoint at all and gave a much needed shot in the arm for at least hw boxing.

Frazier's style along with Norton's style was most difficult for Ali to fight against. Foreman's style was able to handle Frazier and Norton better. Ali admitted Foreman hit hard and dangerous but if he could get Foreman tired out by throwing punches he could counter attack Foreman. Getting Foreman to have to go longer than he was used to fighting his opponents was the key to beating him.

Not taking anything away from Spinks, Holmes and Berbick wins like Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Liston, Moore, Patterson, Chuvalo, Norton, Lyle, Young, Shavers, Cooney, Etc they were great fighters too but Ali with early stages of his Parkinson's along with years of body and brain damage fighting was clearly a shadow of the fighter he was when he fought Frazier, Second Fight Against Norton, Foreman and even Lyle. Thrilla In Manilla was the last of the classic Ali we know. It also helped Holmes being a sparring partner of Ali. This is why I believe Frazier would have also had a difficult battle beating Norton if both fought because Norton was also his sparring partner.

Ali's movement was never the same post-ban. Before that his jerky offence-defensive movement and feints were uncanny where he leaned back and forth from the waist while on his toes with perfect balance: putting him in position to attack opponents and get his head out of the way, even by a whisker (especially against Liston, Terrell and Williams). Great as Frazier was, and despite Ali's vulnerability to a fast left hook; the Ali of 1964 - 67 would have given Frazier nightmares and without having to prove his durability to the degree he had to post-ban.
@robertlancaster45383 жыл бұрын
Though Ali clearly had the decision, Frazier made Ali adjust his approach a couple times during the fight. There fight had some back and forth and Ali had to adjust throughout to regain advantage. Frazier was born for one night of greatness, to win the fight of the century. Ali's was born to be the fighter of the century and dominate two great era's of heavyweight boxing - Smokin' Joe couldn't. Their first fight changed boxing and brought riches to the sport thus bringing a new breed of athletic fighter. Ali could match them for size and top them for talent; Foreman, Norton, Lyle, Blue Lewis, Mac Foster, Henry Clark, and Jose Luiz Garcia who KO'd Norton their first fight (Ken revenged before his Ali trilogy). While smaller Frazier lost too much in his first Ali and Foreman fights, and had no good match on the horizon with a dangerous Ernie Shavers, a slick Jimmy Young an upcoming Larry Holmes and Leon Spinks. Joe and Norton both fought for Eddie Futch an were too dangerous for each other though I think Frazier would've stopped him, but others. All fighters saluted Ali for making their sport the historic during their careers, all except for Frazier - They're in boxing heaven right now talking crap and trading blows with nothing but kicking that ass for a reward.
