That so many people make money off of lying about ketosis. This is why Dr. Ken Berry refers to it as the Proper Human Diet. Should humans eat the Proper Human Diet? See how dumb that sounds? Lol.

Keto+ intermittent fasting is just amazing. Loving life right now I'm only on day ten, went through keto flu last Friday and ever since I've felt amazing
@GameChanger597
@GameChanger597 2 жыл бұрын
The keto flu is caused by a depletion of salt. Most carbs are full of salt and when you cut out the carbs, you inadvertently cut out the salt too. Your body needs salt and on the ketogenic diet, you should probably be getting close to a tablespoon a day but it needs to be pink salt or seasalt. Avoid the table salt that's processed and stripped of all its minerals.

@@TheRawfoodgardener Well.. We all have different situations with our individual biology (so they say). I have always gone long stretches of time between meals anyway. But, now I am aware of the "insulin thing" which keeps me from nibbling on carbs between meals. Advice that I got that I found to be true for ME was making sure to get my ELECTROLYTES. Potassium, Sodium, and trace mins. That really helped me ease thru fasting stretches. The other advantage to keto is that you can snack on FAT while you aren't able to burn your own. You can also scarf down some salad greens with olive oil and MCT and a little butter without spiking any insulin until your pre-decided time to "break fast" arrives. It seems that this Keto diet continues to evolve as "we" learn more about biology. But, I probably didn't say anything that you don't already know since you're no stranger to keto.

Been a keto and no alcohol for 2023 , went from 320 to 240 , I was really strict in nothing with sugar nothing with flour. After 8 months I started eating flour and sugar again is been my second week eating sugar and flour and I can really tell my stress came back feeling tired and my sleep is pattern is bad I went from sleeping 6-7 hours a night to 3-5. Sugar and flour is poison. I'm going back to strict keto.

Here are the key points from the conversation between Tom Bilyeu and Dr. Stephen Gundry: 1-Ketones were long thought to be a "superfuel" that makes mitochondria more efficient. But new research shows ketones are actually signaling molecules that tell mitochondria to protect themselves by "uncoupling" and wasting calories as heat. Uncoupling means protons flow out of mitochondria without making ATP energy. This protects mitochondria from damage during starvation, but means we need more calories. 2-Many compounds like polyphenols and MCTs trigger uncoupling. Goat/sheep dairy and purple sweet potatoes provide this in blue zones. Intermittent fasting and time-restricted eating generate mild uncoupling, which may extend lifespan like calorie restriction. Eating in a 6-7 hour window is ideal. 3-You don't have to be in full ketosis. Cycling ketosis by fasting 16 hrs and eating 6-8 hrs gives benefits without downsides like muscle loss. 4-Uncoupling theory explains why birds live so long despite high metabolism. Uncoupling is key to longevity. In summary, ketones aren't a superfuel but a signaling molecule for uncoupling. Mild uncoupling from polyphenols, fasting, etc. can improve mitochondrial health and lifespan.

My sciatica is going away, my Hidradenitiis is now simmered down 75%, my insulin resistance is starting to ease back, my blood pressure went down because I get daily potassium a lot of days now, my brain fog is lifting. I am sure I forgot to mention a thing or 2. The only negative reactions thus far: my bp spiked at first until I added avocados and trout to diet and the next day it was solved. Also, I had bad bloating one day and discovered that too many cruciferous veggies will do that to me. I had to fast a little longer the next day until it went away. I haven't had any other issues.

I’ve lived most of my life on a carnivorous diet. As a kid my parents were very busy and were building the future at the expense of having me grow up with my grandparents who lived in a village by the mountain. Grandad was a hunter and he mainly consumed animal foods such as milk, yogurt, cheese, butter, and meats that’s what we had on a daily basis with very little veg. Eventually I moved to the big city with mom and dad and we started having loads of takeaways such as Chinese, McDonald’s, Pizza and what not and I went fat and felt horrible for a few years until we were in a position that they were super busy again and ended up bringing grandparents to the city to help them with me. My grandmom realized what happened and she put me on a low carb diet and within a year I got slim and healthy again. Eventually I grew up and was reading a lot about nutrition cause I was interested in boxing and lifting so I researched a lot and did quite a few mistakes along the way but now at the age of 28 I’ve learned what my body feels best on. This happens to be sort of a keto diet but I also have stuff like apples, and berries and some honey every now and again.

Stop letting all these voices confuse you about diet and what you should and shouldn't be eating. Its much simpler than that and you find the answer through experimentation. Do elimination diets and find the foods that give you energy and that you digest well. (I say this as someone with autoimmune disease) Ive done every diet you can think of for a minimum of a month up to years and personally find quality animal protein, fruit and certain vegetables works the best for me. Everyone will be different based on your body and health concerns. The only things everyone SHOULD remove are processed foods. Eat the most minimally processed food you can and eat enough to meet your macro/micro nutrient requirements. Don't feel the need to be downing supplements. Most people need as little as Vitamin D, K2 and magnesium and B12 if you're vegan. Simplify! :)

I RELY on Science by first running a lab panel or using one that pt already has and use my Optimal Blood Chemistry Analysis training. Next, I have clients answer a detailed questionnaire. I have clients submit a DETAILED Food Diary so I know what they are eating and also find out what foods they love, like, hate and avoid while also having them tell me how they react and FEEL after eating their food (and drinks) list. Habits and the way they eat. Everyone is an INDIVIDUAL! Interesting that What I’m seeing over the last 20+ years is a huge rise in Glyphosate toxicity! If they’re symptoms and food diary shows they consume many of the foods that are most contaminated with Glyphosate/Roundup use, I’ll suggest testing to see how toxic they are! I’ve learned to start North (with your mind) and work South (to anus). You cannot fix the end, with out starting at the beginning! The BEGINNING starts with the BRAIN and your mind health! It’s different for everyone and WORTH investing in one’s SELF, not waiting and putting off symptoms until you can’t stand it! More testing if needed and if indicated! Dedication and determination is key, but when a person starts FEELING and seeing a difference from being helped, gets the motivation flowing!…… 🙏

The good news is that carbs should not be demonized. It’s important to go through occasional carb loading. It’s necessary, do your research. So keto, IF and periodic carb loading is the way to go. But choose your carbs wisely. Not processed food. So from time to time, once or twice a month try a little carb load. Have your fries, or baked sweet potato. Have a pizza. Feel good about this treat. Also have your MCT oil, ACV and Polyphenols. Then go back to Keto. The real key is to avoid processed foods, processed oils and sugar.

Now I'm going to talk to my vet about Ferret Keto. They have to have high protein, so I'm not sure this is an option. But something to explore at least!

This post disturbs me. You worked hard here to de-code the information being somewhat shared. Education and gracious sharing of understanding are key processes in healthcare many physicians don’t practice. If we do not empower our patients, we fail them. The way we share what we know is both a tool for others, when it is good, and evidence of our weakness, when it is not.

I'm 38, I have IBS, insulin resistance, slightly higher than average blood pressure and severe insomnia (by the way, i have ideal weight for my size and age, which basically doesn't mean anything). I started Keto, made a transition of 2 days by lowering carbs gradually on my meals until there was no more than 20g a day. Then i spent 4 days eating 3 meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, with some snacks in the middle once in a while. At this point, my IBS was already much better, but i needed to eliminate some vegetables that i suspected were still keeping me bloated, so i went carnivore (cow meat, poultry, eggs and fish) for a week and all my IBS symptoms were gone, i felt more energized, more alive and the keto metal clarity kicked in. Also my hunger was less day by day and this prompted me to start intermittent fasting and eating 2 meals a day. So i did and reintroduced back some vegetables, dairy and some other things, every-time i had a slight hint on what was causing IBS i cut that food and introduced another. It's been 30 days since i started this, and now I'm doing 16 hours fasts with 2 meals a day within a 6-8 hour window (depending on my job and schedule). The results are that i lost 5kg, my IBS is totally gone, my blood pressure is normal, i sleep 7-8 hours a day and fall asleep easily and fast. I also do, occasionally, some light exercise at night, 15min 3 days a week. I can say this is the best I've felt in the last decade.

Isn't it GREAT to escape suffering with IBS and other GI disorders? Food is our medicine! For over 10 years I was in bad shape with IBS-D and 5 different doctors couldn't figure it out. I had GERD for over 20 years to the point it had scarred my esophagus. Keeping a food/health log ( as the book _Help for IBS_ by Heather VanVorus suggested), plus going on an elimination diet taught me what my trigger foods and drinks (and eating habits) were. Eric Berg DC got me started on healthy keto and IF 5 1/2 years ago. Dr.Ken Berry got me into carnivore and 'ketovore'. Dr.Jason Fung taught me benefits of extended fasting. Traditional doctors often say a person just has to live with IBS and it's symptoms. NO, you don't. Good luck on your good health journey

I can say that i feel great, and better than i was when i started this diet. I had some muscle loss due to intermittent fasting and not doing exercise. I would do 300 sets of abs 3-4 days per week and I still had this protruding belly. So I have this descended belly. I also had this persisting shoulder pain that felt like an ice pick jabbed in my shoulder, my hands always hurt. Anyways I got the big virus on Christmas Day of 2021. I could not eat my typical diet, and literally only at protein. Well I recovered from the virus after 4 days. After the 4th day my shoulder pain was gone, my hands were not swollen or in pain, and my belly was almost 3-4 inch flatter. It dawned on me that all these issues were diet. Over the last 4-5 months I eat this high protein, high natural fat, low carb diet. I do not eat a carb with a high fat, food. I do not eat fatty foods with a carb. I eat keto like, I do eat a lot of vegetables with now sugar, high fiber. Every 4th day I carb load 1 meal with a non processed carb. Rice, oatmeal with honey or another natural sweet substance. As of today, I have not lost mussels mass, or strength. I am down to 184 lbs. my body fat % went from 32.5% to 24.9%. I have read his book, ‘The Plant Paradox’. As a student in nutrition science, I was very interested in the referenced literature. It was disappointing to say the least. Lots of cherry-picked information, including references to scientific articles that contradict the information provided in the book. Some were decent articles, but were totally put out of context. It seemed that the author did not go into the article himself and posted references just to look more scientific. Some of the information in the book was something that science would agree on for now. And there were some interesting facts that you can use to impress your friends and mom. But these ‘smart facts’ are often mixed with incorrect scientifically unproven conclusion statements that sound like ‘making sense’, but it is not. He may be a cardiologist, but by no means he is a dietitian or nutrition scientist. Especially if he is selling something (eg, supplements on his website to “save you” from lectins). It goes like this - 1. Make a problem; 2. Sell the solution.

In many areas of science, but particularly human physiology, progress is always steps forward and backwards as we manage the confluence between observations in the lab and and in human life or in on micro or macro levels. The person applying the micro knowledge of cell function in the lab under an electron microscope is usually not the same person looking at the macro implication that the cell compound or process they researched has on the overall function of the body or in the outcomes for longevity, disease prevention or physical performance. A baton has to be passed back and forth between these different disciplines within science. Being willing to look fresh at new data and information and to challenge and adjust our understanding and application of that data is critical to making real progress on our understanding of what makes humans tick. Literally speaking in this case. Fascinating content as usual Tom and thank you Dr. Gundry. Also some mini-bombs Dr. Gundry dropped in here that got passed over like when he says 'You can't keep carbs away from kids' or "All of us came from one woman about 6000 years ago" Wow, big statements that probably would draw away from this conversation, but certainly worthy of conversations on their own.

A few months after that I had a 5.6 A1C, off meds, and I was taken off my AFIB meds, blood pressure meds and constipation meds (lost 14" of my colon due to that issue). And another plus is how many people told me I look so much better after losing the weight. Keto is amazing. There are tons of dissenters, but I'f you question them they are mostly vegans. Which is funny since there are Keto vegans. I personally get a large chunk of my fat from olive oil (straight by the table spoon) and macadamian nuts.

It can be confusing. The one message that seems the same is- reduce processed foods and eat more whole foods. All of the debate you're referencing essentially refers to the whole foods part, and what's considered healthy or not. Imo, it's splitting hairs. Take beans for example, a staple in vegan diets, but the keto folks will tell you it's terrible. Imo, if eating beans is the worst someone can say about your diet, you are healthy a healthy af diet! Another example is red meat- those who follow carnivore will tell you it's the healthiest food on the planet, plenty of doctors will tell you it increases likelihood of cancer, heart attack, etc. BUT, if eating red meat is the worst someone can say about your diet, it's probably a healthy af diet! Eat whole foods and quit splitting hairs, I think that's the most sensible diet recommendation that will work for the very large majority of people.

Bread and tomato’s aren’t keto, you probably weren’t in ketosis but low carb diets can make you lose weight like crazy it’s all calories in calories out! Congrats! if you want to go full keto cut out all carbs except fiber, try to stay under 20g of carbs minus fiber and take potassium, (nu salt) and sodium(sea salt) and mix it in a large amount out water, flavor it with true lemon energy or mio, get magnesium CITRATE, and take about 400mg it will help you sleep, if you’re not getting your electrolytes you can’t sleep and will get the “keto flu”, you need 4000-5000 mg sodium, 1000-4000 potassium, depending on what you eat that day.

Well, here I am. A guy who really didn’t believe he could go without breakfast let alone lunch and dinner. Fasting SMOKES keto diet for this diabetic. I have faced the music…started fasting a while back. I eat higher fat and higher protein but not like the ratios on Keto (as I did for a year at one point and never lost weight and had great blood work though). Now I do OMAD 6 days a week and keep to around 1300 cals without feeling hungry. I rotate in 48hr and 72hr fasts and frankly they have become easier and easier. Fasting puts me in ketosis within 18hrs and I mean HARD ketosis (5!). My energy is 3x what it was, my digestive system is beyond great. My blood sugar doesn’t spike when I eat carbs. This is the cure for t2 diabetes and is the easiest method to maintain in my opinion. I am so glad I trusted Dr Sten Eckberg and tried fasting.

The problem is that producing ketones with MCT oil is not the same as entering nutritional ketosis. The body can produce ketones, but still be undergoing gluconeogenesis to produce glucose for the brain. In nutritional ketosis, the brain switches over to functioning on ketones instead of glucose. Provoking ketones in the presence of dietary carbs can actually raise blood sugar because the ketones cause physiological insulin resistance requiring more insulin to manage glucose, but in nutritional ketosis fasting blood sugar goes down because the brain has switched over to ketones and don't need dietary glucose or the liver to make glucose any more.

Then on the 3rd month I started craving for sugar at night time around 3 or 4 AM, I did not know at the beginning but these were signs of hypoglycemia. It took me almost 2 years to recover. The weight I had lost was partially gained in 2 years but not as much, over 40 lbs. So i started the carnivore diet, and it worked out this time for 9 months until I started getting weight and was feeling extremely sluggish, and I had extremely low levels of testosterone (205). In Fred Hatfield's book "Bodybuilding: A Scientific Approach" (old book from the 80s) he claims that studies showed one way a muscle cell can grow is by adding mitochondria, and the stress that induces mitochondria reproduction is... anaerobic stress (accomplished by continuous tension static or kinetic exercise, if I remember right) lasting 90 seconds or more... which is a long damn time. I used to accomplish this (I grew A LOT following this book's advice) by lifting a really light weight really slowly for 20-25 repetitions, to failure, which is what Hatfield recommended. It's quite painful, but making your muscles both bigger and healthier? Shhheeee.
