I just want to say I really in much enjoy this series as you go extreme detail in explaining pretty much the not only English, Dutch, swedish Spanish and French colonization/exploration of the Americas between the 1500s-and now the late 1700(as well as the indigenous native peoples reaction to it) especially going to details that I've never heard about any American history class/ even certain books on colonial history of the Americas.

Eric is the best! Make sure you watch all of his videos, especially the older stuff. While the video editing is not as advanced as it is today, the information is just as thorough and entertaining. Finding this channel has been a blessing for me.

Long Live the Earl of Mar in Maine, and Bonnie Prince Charlie in Edinburgh! Jacobites never die, they only fade away. So, you should do one on President Cutts of Royal New Hampshire and his cousin in Ireland who fought against King James II at the Battle of the Boyne! Or the Tufton family of Barbados and Robert Tufton Mason of New Hampshire-there is a Windsor family connection as well to the Steward’s wife, and their daughter married Governor Craven of Carolina-same Craven of King James II’s Cold Stream Guards at Whitehall when the Dutch arrived during the Glorious Revolution.

@@hawkmoon419 I’m related to King James II’s Steward of Windsor, called to Parliament when the King fled to France for not administering the Oath of Supremacy for William and Mary before coronation. His Uncle was Guard to Queen Henrietta Maria during the Civil War. Kinsmen in Royalist Maine Jacobite to the Revolution. Like David Thompson of New Hampshire, descendant of the favorite of Mary, Queen of Scots.

I rarely leave comments anywhere on the internet. But in this case I have to because this is one of the BEST history podcasts that I have ever come across. I thoroughly enjoyed every episode and if I were a wealthy individual I would certainly send you that block of gold you suggested. Thank you very much!

Because no attempt was made to teach any 'truthful accounts' of the Early Colonial 'New World' (or North America) in my many years in School & University, I really enjoy taking responsibility for my independent education, without any tuition (just annoying ads), to learn about this very interesting & most significant period of our 'Lost American History'. Now that I realize how our ancestors established themselves on another continent and conquered the indigenous peoples that inhabited the Lands & Waters for thousands of years, and built a 'World Power' that emulates the 'Roman Empire"..!! Simply the MOST fascinating history..!! Thank You for your intelligent & honest presentation.

ok i just finished watching everything, like the whole last two seasons so far, and WOW, you've done an amazing job with this whole thing. you've answered questions about where i live (east/central MA) that i didn't even know i had, and i feel like i've learned more than i could have ever hoped to know about this region. and also provides a load of information on my french canadian ancestors that i hadn't gotten around to researching in depth yet. i can't wait to see everything you do in future, and thank you so much, honestly. this is the exact sorta content i'd been wishing i could find for years

The subject of Dominion in the United States was once covered in a novel 'historical romance' by Anya Seton called DRAGONWYCK, which was later made into a superlative Hollywood production in 1946. The climactic scenes were chilling in that they mirrored certain real-life possibilities at the time I watched it on KZbin. Recommended.

See the old 1880s novel “The Tory Lover” for insight on those of Maine who were Old Anglo-Norman stock and Jacobite to the end. The overthrow of the House of Stuart is the story of the Province of Maine.

Makes me angry just listening to the centuries-ago abusive authority imposed by Andros. Little petty despot. Love these podcasts (learned quite a bit) but sad to say I am caught up and have to wait for new ones now. no more "I feel like a podcast from Other States of America this evening, let's see what is next".

I think you are jumping the gun,we need to go back to 1609,and talk about Sir George Somers and the somers isles company, but if you went back to 1609 and bought up Bermuda, than you would have to explain yourself in depth,,referring to the people of Bermuda,,,,Bermuda was so called discovered in 1609 by Sir George Somers eventually the Somers isles company and Virginia company merged,,in 1619 the first 20 slaves arrived in James town and in 1620 here comes the pilgrims,Bermuda is the oldest British colony in the Westernhamisphere and has the oldest Anglican church outside of England,in 1635 you had the Pequot war in New England and 1675 you had King Phillips war in New England,,they killed thousands of tribal people in that region dump them in the Bermuda triangle took the Pequots to Bermuda and scattered them around the world in the name of Jesus and bought in some Africans who was willing to be a slave, the novel, the story about Moby Dick was written in New England ,,ITS about a captain who was eager to kill a whale,,,,this story is about the genocide that happened in America and thats why the whale is called a sperm whale and the boat in the story is named after my tribe,,the Pequots,,,,England controlled new England but Spain the catholics controlled Florida and the Dutch and French controlled Louisianna and from there is how the Caibbean and central America got populated,,only a few came from Africa

In contrast to Puritans in CT, Ludlow et. al., look at the difference of Popham and Gorges who had natives stay at their Castles before the start of the Popham Colony-look at King James 1620 New England charter and what it says-and ask yourself why he invited Pocahontas to Windsor.
