🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Oh actually. Lemme tell you a lil story that my mom told me, however this isn’t a joke, lol. Back in the day In my mom’s grandparents days, the ppl in the village would actually prowl around the home of her aunt who was about to go into labor and give birth because they’re waiting for the fresh placenta. They do that because they’d take the placenta home to cook it cuz it’s very nutritious. When I heard of the story I thought, ew, isn’t that like borderline cannibalism? I was told that this was during the time when the country was still quite poor and even chicken eggs was for the special occasions but yeah to prevent a mob from literally fighting over the placenta, it was tossed into the pig pen. This was told to me a while ago so I’d have to ask again XD

He has lived there for many years and is probably immune but if you go there you should probably avoid any pork that's not well cooked, the locals are immune to the parasites that it contains because they already are infected. Other than that, other raw meats are honestly safer than the local water. Be careful of things with "fresh" water and even water dishes are washed in.

My good friends are from rural Laos......they make the dip with chili, rice powder, fish sauce and bile.....it's delicious. You wouldnt want a spoon full, but with the other flavors and seasonings it gives a bitter umami. If you smell it before you try it you won't like it, once you've had it a few times it doesn't smell bad anymore but it smells very different than it tastes.

Adventure eating in the footsteps of zimmern and bordaine, but I think even their footsteps would stop short of this 😂 Just so you know I place you in the same room as them. You and your team make top notch episodes that rivel even the best legends. I love the show so much. And! Sonny is amazing. First eps. a bit ignorant american but now seasoned and soooo likable. Same level as zimmern for me. A Peace from sweden.

It's really interesting that you said that placenta's texture is very mushroom-like because there's a really good manga that featured evil babies that grew out their placentas into fake mushrooms so they could mind control the hospital staff by feeding them the placentashrooms. Makes you wonder if Junji Ito ate placenta before.

The pigs blood indicates how many traditional meals are lost in modern Germany now. We have something called Schwarzsauer. Normally made with the blood directly after butchering the animal. Anyway hard to come by nowadays. I wonder how many freaky dishes were still pretty common 50 to 100 years ago which would now be considered unimaginable

You know what? Props to them for finding out how to eat almost all of the animal, including stuff like bile and placenta. I legit got respect for that kind of no-waste policy, even if I don't think I'd be able to convince myself to eat it (and I'm the sort of guy who hates food waste), though I gotta admit that the way they prepare it looks good. well, me as a young generation in Thailand. There's no guaranteed or clear evidence of eating these things is 100% safe, it's much like a lottery, since the educational are getting better and better now a day. Most of people are scared to try. I actually wanted to know the taste tho but the fact that my head knew that they were a soup of blood and cow shit's juice before becoming a plate of food? I'll pass xD

We don’t care if it’s “cultural exotic food”. We care if it could lead us to hospital or death. The education is getting so much better here and younger people know this is very risky to try except there’s a guarantee that it’s safe.
