They're always well thought out, entertaining, and you clearly love what you do. And that translates into your work. Keep on making such enjoyable quality content; you're wonderful.

I haven't paid attention to it since it's initial reveal, does it still have ranged weaponry like Shotguns? Hi there, Road Rash is indeed one of the greatest games of all time, first of all, the Cartoony Art in the menus combined with real life punk/colorful images is one of the things I love, sorry to disagree, but is its a great art work (I Studied Graphic Design, but still even if graphical work is of high quality, it is also about likes and dislikes), for the time it was quite a nice menu and you could even use the "Jukebox" to listen to its amazing OST. Indeed nowadays the menu could be improved, the racing stages are a bit limited and when you level up doesn't bring more than longer races, more traffic, faster bikes and more aggressive rivals, it could add more new content instead. Also the sprites and the random elements (people and vehicles appearing, other objects) are not in a wide variety and adds not much to the game rather than being funny obstacles. Would be also funny to have for instance some big transport Trucks in scene to add a bit different kind of obstacle or other ideas. Then of course the weapons are great fun but limited and you cannot go to "illegal shops" to buy more kind of weapons or guns (no guns in game), or allow your pilot also to go across the city on a "GTA" version of the game or alternative game play mode, I know that for the mid 90's maybe it was too much to ask in terms of size of the game, but nowadays some games tried these ideas (Road Rage, Road Redemption) I think it would be better to use Road Rash as base, maybe even not a completely 3D enviroment but 2D + 3D combined as the old game. Still I'm playing now in Windows 10 (2018) with some patched versions you can download free from internet and is great fun. Totally worth re-playing.

I don't know about this version, but I know it is possible on Road Rash II for the Sega Megadrive. I was once launched from my bike at such a speed that I bounced all the way over the finish line, bouncing atop various obstacles as I went. Also, if your bike was wrecked, then if you touched it you would immediately lose the race and any potential prize money for finishing along with it, whilst also having to repair your bike. It's at this point that you put your marathon running skills to the test.

Oh, how I do fondly remember this game. A major turning point in the franchise. One from the Genesis days when you actually had allies and enemies to an all out brawl on bikes. One where EA tested their skills with delivering real world songs over pure chip tunes. Where the graphics only improved ten fold. The true height of the franchise's point of popularity. What wasn't there to like about this franchise? For me, it did have a fatal spot. A trend that most of the series kept to. Level building and their faster bikes. Most games would reach this point of the (believe they were called) _Super Bikes_. These crazy things only liked two things. Going fast and going straight. Oh, and being crazy expensive, too. In a game full of curves and draining your finances, I'd never learn how to use the brakes. Suddenly, a formerly manageable curve would come out of nowhere, wreck that bike, (Heh...expensive speed bike also doesn't come with armor plate. Or financing at the repair shop.) suck your pocket book dry and...GAME OVER. I guess one has to memorize those courses so hard core, they can drive them in their sleep...or something. To me, however, their fireworks finale presentation on the PS1 will always be my go-to. Talking about Jail Break. The graphics never looked finer. Trash talking was fully realized. Analog stick support was the dream answer for controlling that bike. The cash system was thrown out. As was the chip tunes. They didn't burn the budget on known hard rock menu music, neither. (Heh...some bands STILL list that game as their only major release album.) Curves were more 'realistic' instead of twisty nightmares. EA literally pulled out the best from the 'gray box' that it had to deliver. Alas...it was around this time that EA was looking in a new direction. The era of EA Sports. (It's in the game.) Finding Road Rash in discount bins was a common sight. The mighty era of bike combat had fallen. And, outside of one pitiful GBA release, Road Rash would never see another release. There is at least one known prototype for a PS2 RR out there. But, EA was all in with sports and the code eventually went abandoned. RIP, Road Rash. As for the solo N64 game. I always wish they hadn't tried to be like their CD brothers and dumped the expensive MP3 sound track. It should have been it's own thing, like the no (or very few) invisible boundaries idea was creating. After all, this was the only version where you didn't need roads to ride on, if you so chose to. It ran it's own way. Looked it's own way. Functioned by it's own rules. Alas, get off the roads and you'll find there's nothing to actually find beyond the hard pavement. Kind of broke one of my interests; to treat it like a kind of sand box game. Whereas, Road Rash II's open road structure let you break away from the pack and just roam the routes. As long as you didn't cross the line, you could just drive for hours. It was like the split road option seen in this game, _perfectionalized_. Will EA ever risk a revival of this once popular franchise? Who knows. As GTA V proves, the potential for the best RR game ever is most definitely there. EA just needs to have faith to go beyond the football helmets and slip those bike helmets back on.

I really like that Ian grows his hair longer again, gives a little bit nostalgia feeling back in his Façade time.

Great review! Actually this was also the first game for me that made me begging my parents for my first PC which I got for my bithday in 1996. It was a pretty decent Pentium 166 overclocked to a 200MHz! This game along with the Need for Speed has been one of my favourites and even now I play it sometimes on my retro PC. Even more, Road Rash along with few movies I saw back then when I was like 14 or 15 inspired me so much that I eventually bought myself a motorbike I dreamed of since I've been playing Road Rash.

Ian is the only youtuber I watch who plays the games I want to see. I think I've seen a good amount of his content selection loaded on library computers since a young age. The only thing I wish he would play a little more would be some Jump Start games. I have really fond memories of those games being fun, but only Ian would be able to do them justice.

Man I miss this game a lot, I used to play it on my dad's PC back in the day. I never settled on story mode tho, because for some reason I thought it's gonna be long and boring. Sometimes I event invited my friends to play along, I'm pressing the direction keys and my friends keep pressing enter, which is the best way to cheese your enemies outta bound. Thank you for reviewing this game, Ian.

Omg soooooo much nostalgia! I played Road Rash 64 all the time as a kid, and I think I must have played this version at some point too because I remember trying to run at the finish line without my bike too! If I remember right, it won't actually let you finish if you get there without your bike...

Road Rash 2 on the Genesis was my JAM! I loved stealing the chain from another racer and just annihilating people with it. And the win/lose/busted cut scenes may not have been fancy fmv, but they were still great fun to watch. I need to go play that now...
