Welcome back to the airwaves! My timing sucked when Frank offered me one sometime back. Love the orange peel and _subtle_ touches of purple. The core on this San Mai looks _almost_ perfect-o. And that pivot, oh my. If I was going to bitch (and I always do), I'd like to see Frank change how he handles the lock pin, especially on the bolster builds. But totally a subjective and aesthetic thing. This is an absolute _knockout,_ and the perfect stablemate for the Furys!

Very cool! I especially like his custom pivot design. It reminds me of the four corners 1595 flat earth map from biblical times. Just amazing! And the recurve blade is sick! Only problem I would have is sharpening but a knife of that caliber I would send back for sharpening too. She also looks very comfortable in the hand wow.

Did they not do a true mirror polish to the blade prior to etching? Lines look kinda smudged and doesn't seem as crisp as what I've seen on other damacore blades that have been. I don't know if it's just the video but the etch looks more like shades of grey than the black and white contrast that I'd expect
@DrakeDragonheart4 жыл бұрын
The core steel looks like it still has the grind lines. Not sure if that's intentional or not
@DoctorFrunkey4 жыл бұрын
Thor damacore seems to have the "smudge" look more often than other damasteel products. As I understand it, this is due in part to how the Damascus steels are forged for this product. You will see it on just about every damacore blade if you look closely. The blade was likely taken to a high horizontal satin prior to etch. The steels turn a shade of gray with the recommended etch, but can be made darker if desired. There are no visible grind lines.

Interesting. I'm gonna have to pay attention to this with future knife orders. Was just thinking of getting a full kitchen knife set in damacore, but now I want to handle more folders that use it first. Shame since Thor is my favorite pattern.

Hey man, I’m sorry to be so off topic, but I’m looking to buy a chimera and you said in your review you had gotten on the books, how did it turn out???
@DoctorFrunkey4 жыл бұрын
I have not gotten it yet. I am waiting for them to perfect a type 2 anodizing process.
