Iron Man’s appearance at the end of “The Incredible Hulk” was a cameo. His roles in “Captain America: Civil War” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” were definitely NOT “cameos” - in “Civil War” especially, he got top billing with Chris Evans himself!!

RDJ is not getting $100 million per film guaranteed. He’s getting an upfront salary and points with a $100 million cap. Meaning, he participates in the profits, but only up to $100 million. If the films don’t perform, he doesn’t get a $100 million check for each film. Also, did you say that you think Disney is preparing to sell Marvel? I’m assuming I misunderstood you, because that would be completely absurd. Disney spent the past decade trying to get all the Marvel characters back under one roof. The idea that they would turn around and sell Marvel is just plain dumb. If Disney was desperate for cash, there’s a ton of stuff they could sell off before they’d pawn off their most valuable IP.

Michael, the reason they're paying the money up front is for cost certainty. Didn't RDJ make over $100 million just for Endgame? They can spread the cost over multiple films too. There was the story a month or so ago about the Russos being added as producers on Captain America 4, so some of their payday gets spread to there. Now the Dr. Doom announcement was 3 days before Fantastic 4 started filming. That's no coincidence either. An Iron Man variant will probably be popping up in Avengers 5 & 6 as well. A year or so ago, there were RDJ rumors about his return from the trade magazines, and they mentioned a price tag of around $100 million (if I remember correctly).

I think disneys biggest problem is (and has been for years) the after effects of COVID are still impacting routine cinema attendance. If they’re gonna claw back what they had during endgame they have to bring people back to the screens. This results in either marvel saving Hollywood, or going bankrupt.

Not my idea but this RDJ theory is the cleanest I've heard yet. Non-616 Anthony Stark is born to Howard and Maria but then they are killed when he's a baby (earlier in timeline than 616 Tony's parents). He's adopted by Sakovian family Von Doom's raised as Victor and now his universe is dying. That's why he looks EXACTLY like Tony but doesn't know the name. He finds his birth certificate in Avengers 5 tho😂

The budget is certainly a risk given recent MCU performances, $100M Russo's (base + Incent) prob $150M RDJ, 300M per movie budet, 150M per movie marketing, so total is likely $1-1.3 Billion (budget+Mark) for both movies, which would lead to needing to make $2-3 Billion between both movies just to start breaking even at the box office. While certainly doable, its far from a certainty give recent MCU movie performances.
