That unknown colorful cichlid was either Apistogramma agassizii or an orange faze Apistogramma cacatuoides, both of them are pretty small and need a place to hide. Also gouramis will eat young plattys.

Good way to catch a big cat fish or cichlid is to set a long line circle hook with cut bait or worms also luncheon or spam or bacon grill good then put the bait on a hair rig there easy to make and a stop then put a 2.5oz weight on use about 20-30 pound line then tie a look on the line a strong then put the loop on the floor then use a metal tent peg and dig it in deep and leave and check it every hour

I recommend a motion sensor activated recording of coyotes or other such predators and when it comes in it will trigger that and after a couple of times it should relocate instead of living in fear of it's life !

I know it’s not useful for the channel, but I really think you should catch and keep a Snakehead without telling us. They’re so very personable and very intelligent. I am in England where we can keep anything and everything, but we have to pay for it. I wish I could just go and catch my fish.But captive Snakeheads are awesome pets rob 👍😳

You should know this by now but just a heads up. Cichlids are the only fish with a 2 lateral lines on their side. From here it looks to small for me to tell if it was a snook fish.
