I still find it hilarious that when Puljujarvi was having problems with the Oilers Yak went wild liking every post about how shitty the organization was (essentially deferring blame off himself), and using Jesse's problems as justification as to why his NHL career flopped. Instead Jesse went back to Finland and worked on his game (and his communicative skills) and is now twice the player he was before. Meanwhile Yak is on his 5th KHL org and Jesse is playing with Connor McDavid. Just a case of what arrogance can do to a players career. Potential through the roof and he threw it all away because he thought he was above improvement. He could've been up there with the likes of Tarasenko and Panarin and now he'd be lucky to have a career as successful as Nikita Zaitsev.

@TheEDFLegacy3 жыл бұрын
In the defence of the Canadiens picking Mailloux, there was a ton of talk at the time from other teams that wanted to pick him up in later rounds. From the sounds of it, he sounds like an incredible player that should have been near the top of the draft. It would have been foolish to let it go to the second round, despite everything. If I had it my way, the NHL would have pulled him out of the draft completely, honouring his wishes. But as they didn't, it came down to a business decision, one that I begrudgingly respect. As for the player himself, I'm not happy with what he did in the slightest, and he did deserve to face consequences. But what I will say is this: openly admitting he needs help, and openly requesting that he is not drafted because of his actions, shows both a willingness to take responsibility and learn, and a strong sense of regret. He needs to properly apologize to the woman to the level that she wants, but this is a very good first step, and one of the reasons why I'm not hopping mad about the decision by the Canadiens. It would be a very different story if the player showed absolutely zero remorse.

He was also a cancer in the locker room in MN, and Guerin wasn't going to put up with him. He's a solid top 4 defenseman, but definitely not a leader. When Rob says "Playing in the NHL is a privilege" I think he is wrong. You get to the NHL because of talent, hard work and the years that you put in. It's a skill set that teams are willing to pay for. The kid has been dealt with according to the laws of Sweden. He even said not to draft him as he knew that what he did would not fly. I think he is aware of the consequences of what he did. Will he pull anything like this again? I don't think so. Should he be denied a future in his profession for this? I don't think so. Would a plumber be denied a future in his profession for a similar offence? The answer is NO. As for "our" Canadian prime minister, he governs according to Instagram likes. He is a clout chaser, like creating a 10 billion dollar deficit to pay for things that would get him re-elected. Also, can we take anyone that has done black face as a good judge of character.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a trouble making draft pick, but the Wings signed an undrafted free agent named Dick Axelsson like Fabiann Brunner and Ville Leino. But Axelsson would take the cake out of the three of them as he had such a prima donna attitude that what I have understood was that he wanted a guarantee that he would not be playing the AHL for any extended amount of time; he would go initially but if he made the big club, he was not going back to the AHL. That does not sit well with how the Wings are run as a professional hockey. Yzerman at that time was already in TBL so Holland was at the helm making that deal. Axelsson was a flop with the Wings and once he was told to go to the AHL for conditioning, he hightailed it out of Detroit back to Sweden.

Maybe mailloux was genuinely sorry for crossing a fine line that gets harder and harder to find every year as we become more and more woke. He's a teenager. If we're going to ruin a kids career before it starts for a simple mistake I think we probably don't want to know what 99.9% of our stars get up to these days. Hookers, blow, cheating, gambling and addictive behavior in general. I would want to draft a kid like this because I know he would be more careful than anyone else because he had the chance to learn early before a team could cover up his mistakes. Like either Kane, Kuznetsov, jagr... etc... I'll bet he's going to be captain material in a few short years. The best learn from their mistakes. I'm a leafs fan but I'm hella proud of the Canadians for showing a SUPER RARE sign of forgiveness. And if being forgiving makes someone a bad person. I'm an evil peice of shit. Habs. I don't know that most NHL players truly believe it's a privilege to play in the NHL, maybe lucky. Sure, they will say that and they get paid a lot but they also work extremely hard and a lot of people just aren't willing to put in that work. The NHL owes it to the fans and players to put the best players in the league and fans would be pissed if they figured out its all just a boys club where anyone that goes against the grain of the culture is pushed out for not conforming regardless of skill level. It's just that the majority of high skill players would rather make 10 million a year than end up like Deangelo. That's why McDavid is as quiet a d reserved as he is in the media.. he knows that speaking the the truth or his trues feelings would just be a bad path to take.
