I'm pretty sure the layered harsh vocals is from both guitarists at the same time. It is more common in their older songs. In the newer stuff the harsh vocals are used mostly to represent a different character in the story line. Andrew also does some clean singing in a couple songs for the same reason. To hear more about Brittney's background and singing techniques, a good video to check out in your own time is her interview with The Charismatic Voice. It's kind of a long vid and covers other topics, but definitely interesting.

Now that you're in UTA, check out their darker video Cleanse the Bloodlines, and Test your Metal which have very old school heavy metal vibes. I don't see similarities with Resident Evil, this is more inspired in Mad Max films (which are way better than all cinematic Resident Evil franchise).

Resident Evil is the movie series you were thinking of. Mad Max is also mentioned a lot as well as SteamPunk. I think that the screams you heard are just both Andrew and Grant. Both can do false fold and fry screams and growls . Her legs come from Rugby :-) She is a world class rugby player.

Love your reaction, great comments on the voice/growls and the glad you're checking out the guitars. So Awakening was an album behind their latest, Tonight We Ride was even further back, to give you a sense of their progression check out Soulbound from their latest Album - Abyss (it has a cool video too.) In Soulbound you will see another example of how they use growling to tell the story or support the singer rather than as a lead. Another great track w/o a video from the new album would be The Wind that Shapes the Land (best composition off the new album, no vid.)

I believe she played rugby all through highschool and college, so that's where the muscly legs come from (or what's left of it). Their live performance of "Tonight We Ride" at Montage in Rochester, NY is supergood(!) (2nd last song of the set, 46.51s in ): kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXzFen-Ho5isl7M

Two 'growl guys' in this one, both of the guitarists. In their older songs they had more of that with different band members. General of the Dark Army is one of their videos where it's clearer there are two guys doing the growls instead of just one. (also a good one for a nice opening guitar solo)

IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! TONIGHT WE RIDE Hold on to this moment for all time, this is the night we ride I hear them calling our name Raising the flag and fuelling the flame I'll find my destination; don't tell me where to go I won't give in this time, feel the power Not this time, scream it louder Voyage o'er the mountains and wastelands Far beyond the sea lies fortune No regrets, just live for the fight Renounce your precious lives and ride Take hold of your steel chariot; though ours is gone, lives on Rise to the challenge or fall Nothing will hinder our rise to the call We'll find our destination, can't tell us where to go We won't give in this time, feed the hunger Not this time, growing stronger Voyage o'er the mountains and wastelands Far beyond the sea lies fortune We'll find our destination; let's go! Voyage o'er the mountains and wastelands Far beyond the sea lies fortune Fly, redeem tonight Destroy, renounce your precious lives and ride Ride

Hello from Brazil. Anastasia you're young, that's why you didn't notice the Mad Max movie reference. Congratulations on the Carmen version. I really loved it. Married metal very well with Carmen. My favorite Unleash video is Cleanse The Bloodlines ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpe2fWBsjqqrsM0 ). But if you like vocals and 80s, this is the right song kzbin.info/www/bejne/opqyoXlnpK2bq5Y . Unleashe reminds me of another female vocal power metal band from Italy called Frozen Crown ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6Cunnt3otmips0 ). As for the growl, it's not normal in power metal. You don't know Theater Tragedy from Norway, they invented the "beautiful and wild" vocal style where soft female vocals duet with male growls.

Hey Anastasia. \m/ Another cool reaction and break down. And yes. You are in the neighborhood of the post-apocalyptic feel of the video. As another posted before me pointed out, more "Mad Max" than "Resident Evil" with Milla Jovovich, but that is just tomato... tomahto as they say. Also, just wanted to give you two thumbs up and a double metal \m/ \m/ for your rendition of "Carmen." I'd have to say it is my favorite "metal" version of "Carmen" now. Speaking of which in a similar vein, Brittney Slayes does a very fun power metal version of "Brindisi" with the Lords of Trident... think it was last December. Definitely worth checking out. Funny you should mention about recording this "Tonight We Ride" track and then talking about Brittney probably even sounding good on crappy equipment because there is a video floating around of her on KZbin singing Queensrÿche "Queen of the Reich" at a Karaoke bar in Edinburg after the band finished one of their gigs. The video was recorded on a cell phone too boot.
@janihaavisto793 жыл бұрын
This music video is more like Mad Max inspired. Cars look exactly like in the movie. BTW she goes all the way to A5 with her belt. Yes your pitch is good enough if u regocnized that without piano check.
@luisnunes20103 жыл бұрын
Why don't you take a look at Luca Turilli's Rhapsody playing Prometheus, with lyrical soprano Emilie Ragni? They're the more experimental splinter of the symphonic power metal titan of 90's, Rhapsody of Fire. Btw Eric Adams of Manowar recorded from D2 to F5... P.s. Power metal vocals are often long melodic lines over frantic instrumentals. P.p.s Wintersun has a lead singer and two players that can do cleans, shrieks and growls and harmonize in all. P.p.p.s Britney used to be a rugby player.
