I believe Geroge Strait, and Randy Travis, both debuted around the same time. Both came in during a time when Country Music had strayed a bit from traditional roots. George Strait helped bring back the Cowboy into Country Music where as Randy Travis help bring back the good ole Country Boy. Both are Legendary.

Wonderful reaction. After Randy Travis started performing - he became my all time favorite male country artist - previous to Randy ; John Denver had been my favorite male country artist. Point Of Light has always been one of my favorites. "Favorite" could be so over-used but you can't go wrong with anything he has done. Keep up your Awesome work to make these wonderful videos.

Randy's voice is great on this Song as well as it is on any song he sings!!!!! I met him right after he done a show for a company. I told him that I never heard him sound that great. He said that he always sounds his best on live showed. He was talking with me just like he knew me all his life. I have him in my prayers to see him make a complete recovery from the stroke he had !!!

I too, got a chance to meet Randy after a concert as he was leaving the casino in NJ . He was just as you said. So down to earth and talked like he knew you personally. That you were a life long friend. Randy never forgot how he too was a fan of his peers. So he was always gracious when time allowed to spend a few moments after shows. And even during his oncores he would sign autographs as he sang. Never losing a note . He loved performing for his fans. Randy has a book out about his life , I sugest if you haven't read it , than buy a copy, you will find it an amazing read.

no regular albums have maybe one possibly two hits on them. Storms of Life had 3 top ten singles of "On the other Hand" #1 "Diggin up Bones" #1 1982 #6 and imo not one bad track on the album. The reasons I cheat, Storms of Life the title track are two excellent tunes that could have charted if they'd released them as singles.
@doloresguyer4466
@doloresguyer4466 3 жыл бұрын
@@Hobodeluxe960 I agree completely. Reasons I Cheat is a great piece of song writing. It's one of my favorite songs on the album, and one that Randy wrote . Back then labels would only release up to 4 songs off an album. But that entire album was full of hits , had the label been smart and released every song as a single. The album that a few of the songs came from was his Randy Traywick/Travis Live at The Nashville Palace. and recorded before he got a major label contract. But was full of Randy's originals. A few made it off that, onto some of his WB's albums. Send My Body, Promises, The Future Mr. Me, But others were really great songs too. Call Somebody Who Gives a Damn. If It Was Love That Kept You Here. One Last Time to name a few that I can remember off hand. I would like to see this guy listen to Reasons I Cheat and Storms Of Life too. I know he would really love them both since to me they are male songs. Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz were the writers of On The Other Hand, Deeper Then the Holler both songs became #1 hits. On The Other Hand was released twice before it became a #1 hit.

This is an amazing song from one of the best vocalists in country history. His timbre is so rich and natural that he makes it look so easy. The nuances that he throws into his delivery adds such value and you’d think he wrote all of his songs just because of how well he sings and delivers each one. Please react to his other songs Reasons I Cheat; Promises; and Spirit of a Boy, Wisdom of a Man. Randy is one of my top three favorite country artists and I hope that he continues to recover.

FYI, Randy release this song and it went to number 62, as his first Warner single. Then his second single 1985, reached the top 5, Warner made the risky move or re-releasing On the the Other, this time it went to number 5. Oh, the Storms of Life album is by far one of the best country albums ever. love to see you a do a review of it

In case you did not know it, this song actually says the same thing that 'Almost Persuaded' (D. Houston) says. I also believe Keith Whitley wrote this song. Further, one of the things that makes Classic country what it is known for is the double entendre. Songs like the Kendells' hit 'Pittsburgh Stealers', or 'Afternoon Delight'.
@doloresguyer4466
@doloresguyer4466 3 жыл бұрын
No, the song was written by Paul Overstreet and Don Shclitz as were several of Randy's biggest hits. Forever and Ever Amen, Deeper Than the Holler,, to name two. Don and Randy wrote . Hero's and Friends. Another hit . Kieth Whitley recorded On The Other Hand first, that is how he was connected to the song.

Now this is a detailed in-depth review. Most reactions are so dumb. They were told by someone what the song means and then they explain the song to the viewer as if the viewer cares. We want to know what you thought of the song and is it your favorite from that artist, all time fav, etc. Yep, Randy hit this one out of the park. Had this song been marketed to top 40 radio, it would have done well. I really enjoyed your review/rating!

Also give credit to songs of the eighties that brought monogamy forward in the decade of AIDS. These songs began to pass up the songs that promoted promiscuity as the decade neared the end and the number of cases of AIDS began to explode. They took monogamy off the shelf, after a couple of decades of retirement, and dusted it off for recirculation!

I don't know why, but it seems to me that the person who is critiquing/reacting/or commentating to these country videos kinda reminds me of John Schneider when he makes certain expressions. I don't know if he has hair underneath that hat, but if he had a blond wig, or removed his hat, I could easily mistake him for John. But I think he gave a rather accurate description of the video though.

Glad you like it that much, Keith! My highest rating so far is Red Sovine's "Teddy Bear," which IIRC I gave a 9.8 to. After that I think I gave Miranda's song "Love Your Memory" a 9.5, so it's tough to break into the upper 9's. But Randy is the man, so maybe another song will hit me as high as you like this one. Good stuff!
