This shows how much good playing and great effects do for a synth! I've seen many factory presets in this video, but when i play them they sound so much duller. With that reverb it sounds amazing!

I must say the alpha has all to often fallen to critisism due to comparing it with the juno 6/60/106. This instrument has , variable chorus, multi stage envelopes, 5 diffrent saw waves with saw width modulation and an excellent range lfo. Its much more diverse than the 6 series.

I've had the AJ1 for a couple of years and I am falling in love with it. I'm finding it is being used in more and more roles on my tracks, squeezing out other synths for the job.

It’s also got a few other voice options absent from the original Juno models, chord memory, voice stacking, probably other features I’m forgetting. I would think of getting one, if I hadn’t just gotten the MKS70.

Cheap option is the BCR2000. You can buy a sticker overlay from synthgraphics.com and they provide a sysex file to auto configure it all. Now your synth has loads of buttons.

You can still get Alpha Junos in good condition for little money, the last Roland analog not to have risen much in price. I notice the price of JX-8Ps were pretty low until a few years ago, they are getting exoensive now!

timothy Smith I just grabbed a Juno 1 off of Craigslist from someone who was getting rid of 'junk'.. 60 bucks! One thing I would highly recommend is grabbing a programmer or mapping it to some sort of knobs.. it made it immensely more useable when I hooked it up to my Novation Remote SL.

Hi Paolo. How does the Alpha 2 compare to the Juno 106 in regards to strings and chorus? I have the 106 but would prefer the smaller size of the alpha. Are they equal in tone? Thanks!
@SynthManiaDotCom2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Brian, the sound is fairly different, so I’d suggest to listen to plenty of demos to get a good sonic picture of the alpha-Juno sound
@briancoyne67002 жыл бұрын
@@SynthManiaDotCom Yes, I am beginning to hear what you mean. I think I'll stick with the 106. It makes the hairs on my arms stand up. Thanks for your channel and your website, Paolo. You rock, my friend!
@lundsweden Жыл бұрын
I had the 106 and also the Alpha. They are both good synths, the 106 sounds brighter IMO, looks great, has a great interface. The Alpha sounds darker to me, smoother, more complex. I don't like how it looks that much, it looks like a home keyboard to me! It is nice and compact though, solidly made, except for those yucky membrane buttons.

FrangoPlays . You can download sysex banks or patches . There are a few resource pages on the net with virtual pg300 controller software aswell. So you can store your own patches and banks or load from other sources .

Make sure the Write switch is enabled in back. Then whatever preset you edit save in Memory section by hitting write button and saving to memory location :)
