This is Kokkaffe Diaries - Episode 13
Filmed in Västerbotten, Sweden in early May. I went fishing for Orfe / Ide in a river running into the Baltic, saw a moose, a northern pike, made me some coffee and watched the birds return, great times. Thanks for watching!

I love it, especially the end of the video. I was outside with colleagues by the creek for lunch. There are food caravans. In a few minutes, I walked aside and stared into the water, enjoying spring, fish, and birds. After a while, one colleague approached me and asked what I could see there. Nothing. I only feel better in nature listening to noises of nature than among people and listening to their BS.

We call it yaz' in Russian. It’s amazing how the nature, the spruce forest and the dark river from peat bogs are similar to the eastern part of the Leningrad region (next to the Pasha River and its tributaries).

Haaaa! I'm so glad Rolf. When you said in a previous video you were going to SA I mentioned the Cederberg in the comments. I grew up in that area and I fished that river as a boy, really looking forward to the film! Growing up there was a completely different life compared to Scotland, where I now live. Loved that one. Also like you fish for various fishing. Life is not only about dry fly and trout. I love Ide. In our lakes they actually do take small dry flies. Love to fish for them. I also made a movie how I fish for them.

Good to see some good old ide/orfe fishing! We have been downplaying ide since they are so abundant, but just you wait - if they continue decreasing they will soon be the ultimate reward and then we will be looking back at the good old days when they entered our streams in thousands. Funny how you first realize this after going to the other side of the globe.

If you can find a stream that has ide living in it, not just spawning, you should try catching them with dry flies. They do bite those. Great video as always! Nice to see kokkaffe diaries back!
