Drake, I’m a new subscriber, thanks for all the great information you share. I recently bought a new to me boat (2015 23’ Sportsman). The previous owner had someone wheel the boat and put a protective layer on. I have no idea what was used as a protective layer. How can I remove what he used so I can add on my own Jescar layer? Thanks!

Hey bro! Yes, I only use corded buffers. The cordless ones aren’t as powerful, and the batteries don’t last as long as I need them for for a full days worth of work.

If it’s a polymer sealant/wax application and not ceramic, I typically use Jescar powerlock

Quick question, know this is unrelated to this video but when doing a ceramic coating application I’ve heard after buffing you have to use an isopropyl alcohol solution to cleanse the surface. What would you recommend the alcohol to water percentages to be and what percent isopropyl alcohol? Also is there any difference applying it on paint vs. gelcoat? Know this is a big question! But would really appreciate the help. Watch your channel all the time. Thanks!

4:1 IPA with distilled water for panel prep. He washes with dawn before applying coating which does the same thing, remove any possible oils that could interfere with the coating bonding.

It’s called a spur. Not every single section, but call it after every couple of sections

Hey Drake what's the difference from using choptop with a DA with a foam pad vs yellow wool and rotary?

It will cut heavier when you’ve combined it with a wool pad and a rotary then if you were to use a DA. A DA polisher isn’t going to make the compound work as hard and deep as the rotary will.
