As a Filipino myself, I hope I can provide a little bit of context as to why people hated the girl. Our culture pays *HUGE* respect to elders. This includes reaching out to their hands and placing them on our foreheads when we visit them (called 'Mano'). When elderlies are talking and we have to pass through in the middle, we will bow and walk while having our heads really low to avoid interrupting the conversation and to pay respect. We also can't interrupt any conversations of elderlies because it is considered "rude". But her actions were clearly inappropriate. Pulling the grandma's hair and being physical with her is unacceptable (in all parts of the world I know, but most especially here in the Philippines it's a big deal). In addition, her screaming "MY FATHER IS A POLICEMAN!" if you analyze the whole conversation in a Filipino context, does not mean that "My dad is an officer and he's on the right" but it screams "My father is an officer. How dare you lay your dirty fingers on us?" that's why she got hated on it.

For example, police brutality (which were rampant at one point in Aquino Administration, there were several CCTVs leaked but now it's radiosilent on this) breaking quarantine laws during Covid, extra judicial killings (minors have been killed like Kian), drug selling by confiscating drugs from other people they arrested or simply just by conniving with rich people like politicians and drugs lords. They usually get a slap on the wrist. Just recently, a dismissed cop was given extra care by Philippine National Police. He cocked and aimed a gun at a cyclist but was given the extra VIP treatment by the Police and gave him a chance to have a press conference to explain his side. It's ridiculous here. 😂

Most children here in the Philippines are taught basic respect for older people, whether at home or at least in school. I remember watching the video and just felt for the first time how my world stops and how there's really evil in this world. It's one thing to watch it in a movie or hear it from someone but seeing an actual video of killing someone out of spite and not of defense puts so much fear and unsafeness in me, that there are people like him walking in the street and I could be the next Frank without me doing anything wrong to them. They would frame people by putting drugs in people's bags and houses so they could rank up. That happens a lot here in the Philippines unfortunately. Filipinos would often blame the kid, especially teenagers if they engaged with a sex*al relationship with an adult for example. It is awful. There is a show here, Raffy Tulfo in action (I think Stephanie mentioned in one of her videos,) where they "help" with legal complaints of their guess. Whenever I listen to Kapangyarihan, I always remember the scenes in the video of this incident. This incident in particular is the last straw for Ben & Ben as at that time, the Philippines was wrought with abusive authorities taking advantage of the COVID situation. I imagine Ben & Ben was collectively frustrated, angry and afraid that they let it all out in the song because the lyrics were wrathful. In a way, the song was a protest against the authorities who deserved neither badge nor office. This song was the voice of all those who were silenced.

Actually, the case I'm talking about here is not related to the video, but then again, this case was so traumatizing that I couldn't help but cry when I heard about it. Violence against women is a very big problem, especially in places of Asia. I'm Indian, and recently, I came across a crime which took place over here. A girl, a mere 16 year old, was beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend publicly. People who were there just walked by causally, even after seeing what that monster was doing to her. The video of the attack was so traumatizing that I couldn't help but cry at the pain she must have endured before she met her end. She was killed at the hands of someone she had once trusted. It is the Sakshi Dixit Murder Case. I would be glad if you could cover this case on your channel. Crimes like these must receive international attention. We must spread awareness about the injustice women are constantly facing at the hands of men. So please go through the Sakshi Dixit Murder case once.

People defending Elilie reminds me of when “children” in that age range (13) in South Korea viciously bully and torture other people and the excuse is they’re just kids they don’t know they’re doing. When I was 13 even in the midst of a really tense situation, I knew that it waa wrong to yell at adults let alone pull on an adults hair and or hit them. now that's just wrong to compare bullies but it's not about excusing her behavior. It's literally explaining why she was like that and why the hate she got was undeserved. She was definitely wrong but does that justify bullying her to death? She should be punished and her actions should be corrected and that's it. Also bullying is a different topic that shouldn't even be compared to her case. Bullying itself shouldn't be looked upon as a whole as different people have different circumstances. Some are just psychotic, some don't know that what they're doing is wrong, some are acting out, and some are just kids acting mean to impress and hide their vulnerable selves. Do those things make it okay? Of course not. But knowing their circumstances can help how to deal with the kids, how to take action, and how to correct them.

The video surfaced on Twitter and I accidentally saw it when it was trending. That was a painful watch not only because it's graphic but also I got so disturbed by the fact that if not for that video, he would have gotten away with that murder. Police brutality here is very rampant and the only few ones that are brought to justice are the ones that happen to have video recordings. I was a 13 year old who dealt with an entitled Dad once. I had other good influences in my life, but it was my entire decision to be nothing like him, I knew right from wrong, even though most entitled teenagers know not to pull, slap, and kill an elderly woman and her son because they have some petty neighbor drama. As I grow older, I blame adults more and more for the ""terrible way children act these days."" Yes, they way your parents act has a HUGE effect on how you act, I've met so many entitled teens in my schooling, but then I meet their parents and their almost quadruple that. Everyone involved deserves the harshest of punishments if not through the justice system then in the afterlife. I hope the victims and those affected are resting peacefully. 🕊️

I wasn't sure of the context at that moment as I couldn't understand the language, but it was hair-raising to see the dad shot them. seeing the video when it first happened definitely messed me up for quite a while but i never knew the full story, it went viral here so quickly and the tide of comments were quickly shifting onto new aspects of the case (people were big on talking about the daughter) but i was still stuck on how fast and swift the killings were, it made me so angry that just like that lives were taken and the family's lives were forever changed thank you for adding additional context about the police brutality here and the "war on drugs" movement cause until now it's such a big problem, so many lives have been lost because people are on a power trip. the police are so quick to draw their weapons on people who pose no threat to them. just recently a young man was killed after the police shot him cause they thought he was someone else just so fucking tiring, frustrating, and angering

This case went super viral, many made fun of the elderly woman, the girl, the whole event in general. But I was **very** devastated, to think your demise is to be captured on video, and be made fun of. It made me cry, because no one deserves to die that way. But I am glad you covered this incident, and solemnly so. I haven’t finished the video, but if you mentioned this, the policeman (the man who shot the elderly woman and young man) has died in prison. It brought me a lot of joy, and justice is served. I don’t care what you think of me celebrating someones death, but it was well deserved. I hope both the young man and the elderly woman rest in peace, the man stills fuels my hatred to policemen and how they abuse their position. I know not all cops are bad, but theres enough cases like this to say so. The young girl being proud of witnessing a murder angers me too, and needs to be taught a lesson. Teens and younger kids a lot of times have trouble controlling their emotions especially when going through puberty so to say they're usually more calm than adults is insane. We have no clue why this girl was there or what she was doing before this started. If she's being abused at home or sees her father being aggressive/violent would not mean she'd automatically be to afraid to be there. If anything she would be more inclined to do things in front of her father that she would think would please him like mimicking his behavior. If he's normally aggressive and in peoples faces and she knows he hates these people then it would make sense for her to act this way hoping it would make her dad happy. Children that are eager for acceptance and love from their parents will do anything to make their parents proud of them including behaving the same way as they do. If all she knows at home is violence then it would make sense for her to want to imitate that behavior as well. Why do you think children of abuse often times grow up too be abusers themselves. It doesn't happen in every case thankfully but it happens a lot. That's why we often see cycles of abuse in multiple generations of families. She also may have not even known what was going on in the situation and could have thought her dad was trying too arrest this man for legitimate reasons. She may have been scared for her father thinking he was in danger and was trying to protect him. Even small children will try to protect their parents if they think they're in danger. There's just so many unknowns about this situation that we really can't say for sure why she acted the way she did. Is this normal for a 13 year old, no. That leads me too believe she was brought up to behave this way which would be a parenting problem and not completely her fault. If shes never seen the adults in her life show other people respect then why would she show respect to anyone? I don't know where you got the idea that men who are violent in public or "brave" as you called him, aren't this way at home. I think its you who probably needs too learn more before speaking out. You clearly haven't been around violent men before or around abuse if you believe this. Men who act like this in public have no problem acting like this at home. Home is where they're comfortable to be themselves so all their true colors are going to come out. Have you ever been a 13 yr old girl? Do you have children or specifically a teenage daughter? BTW as a Filipino, majority of law enforcement in Philippines are corrupt or corruptable (if not yet corrupt). You can be a foreigner breaking a law (ie: drug consumption, drug trade, prostitution, etc.) All you have to do is give the investigating police a nice sum of money (better to present foreign money like U.S., Canadian, Euro dollars) and the police will completely ignore the crime and let you continue the act (ie: prostitution, drug trade, drug consumption, etc.)

I called a friend crying about how awful it was and how I hated how unkind people can be towards one another. It was definitely very traumatic for me despite not being connected to any of the victims. I pray they rest in peace.
