With the demise of the economically priced base model air-cooled HD Sportster 883, I can see RE's cruiser twins filling the niche as the 'go to' starting point for customising and general mid sized road riding machines for those who don't want a sports bike. The cost of a basic platform allows owners to personalise to their heart's content on a bike with character, and all the right 'essentials' already in place. I've certainly been happy with the Interceptor I've been riding since early 2019, where it's been the perfect bike, both on my home roads in the UK, and riding in the mountains of the Languedoc (SW France).

USA was slow to embrace Royal Enfield I know a guy in New Jersey & has owned them for about 20 months & said HE never saw any if he did it was a Himmy.Westcoast & Texas seemed to have alot in that period but Esst coast was slow to embrace them he said it's Harley Davidson country which he has one too.When RE had the lottery for the 120yr anniversary model he entered thinking 🤔 he had no chance & he one🥳.He reckons less tickets sold on the East coast & increased his chances.He sold his blue Interceptor & kept 120yr model & then brought a Classic 350 with 1500km on it & of his 5 bikes the Classic 350 is his favorite for plodding along & if he needs to travel got his Harley.HE loves RE & said lately has started seeing more around that aren't Himmy's.

This is actually the best video about the Super Meteor on KZbin. Why? Well, for me it is important to go on long or longer tours, even with some luggage. I live in Germany and love taking longer trips with luggage for a few days or even just 1-2 days. That is the goal when looking for a suitable motorcycle that will slow me down! The power and torque are absolutely sufficient. Also: Who still builds something like that today? Honda and Kawasaki have the new look and are not really what I have in mind. If, as you say, the seat isn't that uncomfortable compared to many statements, then that's my bike too, to be honest. I also imagine what it looks like for you, with the luggage solution. Thanks for the video and your assessment of the Super meteor 650. Thank you very much!

Hello, Fuzzy. Thanks, again, for another review. The “Shotgun” didn’t wow me the way the Super Meteor did. Not sure I can put my finger on it, but… just didn’t. I have to say… despite how much I like the appearance of the SM, I now await the “Classic” adaptation of the powerplant. Different rides for different folks, obviously. But I think I’d still want a… well… more “classic” rider’s triangle over a “cruiser.” I wish you many more views in 2024! Best, John in Colorado.

Hi. That's really a great review of the SM650. I am planning to buy but still i am quite puzzled with the reviews i am seeing for stiff rear suspension. Can you please share any details on that like any specific settings or upgrade to aftermarket shock absorbers?
@forgottenmotorcycles8 ай бұрын
From the dealer most bikes are set on the softest setting. Works good until you hit a hard bump and get that spine jarring crunch. Be sure to adjust your rear shocks to your weight. For me, at 227 lbs, that was two clicks up from the lowest setting. Because I'm planning on riding my Super Meteor over 30,000 miles this year I've added the YSS Top Line rear shocks from Baxtercycle.com After getting these tuned in to my weight and adjusting compression the ride of the bike is amazing. Two questions for you. (1). Is there any/ much buffeting with that factory windscreen? (2.) is there a good place to store/ hide your phone, and... route the charging cable from the USB port to it (With its cool navigation system, it seems foolish to also have a phone strapped to the handlebars) - Thanks Mike
@forgottenmotorcycles11 ай бұрын
Stock windshield with me wearing an HJC i90 helmet, I'm about 68 inches tall, has virtually no buffeting. Helmet is in clear air, if I lean down the air noise goes down, if I stand up the wind noise and buffeting increases. I'm planning a short video on this soon. Unfortunately, the USB port is under the left side cover, almost useless, and the stock bike has no place to store the phone. I'm going to run a USB cable into my left saddlebag. I can keep and charge electronics there. FYI, did use that tripper nav system, it does work well but drained my phone in less than two hours.

Will you add a big bore kit to bring that motor alive?
@forgottenmotorcycles8 ай бұрын
No, not to this bike. I want this bike for very long ride, 400 - 800 miles per day. The motor in stock form would be more reliable for this type of riding. Now, if I had an INT650 or that new Shotgun...that'd be another story. Wahoo!

2400 miles is long term? Just barely broken in. I have two bikes at 15k miles and wouldn't call it long term. But, very nice review and presentation even though my experience with Classic 350 is underwhelming both with machine itself and RE as company.

Can a person who is 5.3 feet tall reach the flat-feet ground level on royal enfield super meteor 650?

Bags were $290, Racks were $200, pegs $90 at Baxtercycle.com Love these bags. Pack them inside the house, put em on the bike, get to motel and carry them inside. Amazing!

Super Meteor is every 6000miles. My Himalayan is the same.

Isn’t it the case that, even on the 650s, the valves are screw-and-locknut adjustable? If so, I think that’s fine, if not even preferable. And 6,000 miles isn’t too bad. The precision of shim adjustment comes with its own expenses and challenges. Getting access to the valves, doing it at home, and leaving the tank on?! Again, if I am wrong, please skool me. But my other bikes require tank off, valve cover off, CAMS off, measurement and shim application, then re-assembly. Full shim-set required. Hmmm! John-in-Colorado

Adjusting the valves on a 650 RE is quick and extremely easy to do.

What kind of gas mileage do you get?
@forgottenmotorcycles3 ай бұрын
Depends of speed. At 60 mph I'll get about 62 mpg. At anything over 70 mph I'll get something in the high 40's. Faster mph less mpg. Wahoo

It's all about purpose, in my case I wanted a bike that could do 700 mile days at Interstate speeds while being comfortable. This bike does that well. If I want to ride in other ways I'll ride a different bike. Follow along, I plan to roll on the miles on this bike this year. We're gonna test this bikes abilities and its Unlimited mile warranty too. Wahoo! PS get to your RE dealer and take one for a ride.
