My wife has 2016 RS3 from new, so here's a bit of advice for anyone who wants to buy such a car: if something goes wrong but you have full Audi service history, even though the car is out of warranty, Audi will do huge discount on the cost of repair as long as you use them to do it. In her case the haldex clutch failed after 48k miles and it was replaced for ~50% of the cost. We had similar story with her previous car which was an Evo, timing chain needed replacement shortly after warranty ran out and it was heavily discounted by mitsubishi.
@toastman6847 Жыл бұрын
Wont really apply to a lot of poeple though, majority of the owners will modify the car, and any modifications to the car, audi will refuse to give a discount. However it is good to always service it at a main dealer if you dont intend on mods.
@janisberzins3939 Жыл бұрын
That is the '"goodwill" warranty that almost every car manufacturer has. Applied to out of warranty but still low mileage and full dealer service history cars. Of course the powertrain can't be modified in that case. Usually the parts are discounted almost 100% and owner has to pay for the labor only. Most of the time it ends up to be a 50/50 split of the total costs.
@mobilrz Жыл бұрын
Only trouble is you're paying main dealer rates, and they don't have half the knowledge of the guys here. You may get a master tech, but really they are taking a new engine straight of a pallete to fit.

Every engine can fail, even good and strongest engines, some units sometimes fail. But high powered turbo engines, as example, at full boost you fuel supply suddenly cut, then pistons can melt. At full boost, some smaller issue can cause bigger problems, if you are cheap and use secand hand ignitin coils, some random spark plugs etc.
@aidencoder Жыл бұрын
This is clearly a case of a car being serviced on the cheap. Mismatched spark plugs and coils packs. I doubt it has had proper oil changes. I own an RS3. These cars are bullet proof and cheap to maintain with the correct maintenance. You can drive them as hard as you want, providing you service accordingly. Sadly, a lot of young posers buy these cars to look flash but don't have the means to look after them.

This is hectic. I love the RS3 and want to switch my supercharged 3.0tfsi to an RS3 sedan, but seeing this....well...I'd like to know what caused this. Those mismatched spark plugs and coilpacks tells me everything I need to know. It also doesn't add up to the "we replaced the pipe" story the owner spinned. I would ask for money UP FRONT before doing any work on cars with sus-owners like this. This reeks of cheap-owner-expensive-car. RIP RS3....you deserved better.

My S4 ( 2014 B8 ) was looked after ny me during "lock down" - I'm not a mechanic, never worked on a car before...but youtube was a saviour and I managed to do an oil change, changed the sparks, internal air filter, oil filter, brakes, discs, air intake swap out, by myself getting some basic tools. Things like the drive shaft ( that went ), oil filter ( that went ) and other bits were done by this man in this video - he's a legend - his v direct, which I like, and if I'd not done the basics then my car wouldn't be still running after doing 106,000 miles!!!!

Within 1 month he called me for help so I sent him to the dealer service which I was going (at another city as they are much better there) and finally he paid the price. I can't help but notice it looks like a FL car, with virtual cockpit and the FL front end.... but a PFL CZGB engine?? Very odd.
@Mac_F87 Жыл бұрын
A more logical reason is it’s a PFL that’s had facelift bumper, headlights and virtual cockpit retrofitted. No doubt it’s crashed and repaired using FL parts.

I also noticed this too. SO odd. Either it is a facelift rs3 and somehow had the engine replaced with the older CZGB engine but then the ecu wont work with it. So most likely it is a PFL rs3 with a facelift bumper conversion and retro fit virtual cockpit like mac said.

That sounds expensive ....

I would stick with a rs3 8p

Bottom line don't buy a car like this unless it's really really the car you want to have and aer prepared to have it ruin you!. Buy the best one you can not the cheapest unless you are prepared to pay the experts 6 figures to fix it or do engine work etc. yourself. I think YT videos like " I bought the cheapest "xyz" in the UK are often giving people a rose tinted idea of what's really involved in taking on a car like that.

Too many home “mechanics “ and dodgy garages out there, you don’t cut corners or piss about with these cars

That’s what happens when you try and show off with a flashy car that you can’t afford to maintain properly!

The comments about Audi reliability as a tad unfair. A lot of this issues you see on this channel are down to poor/cheap maintenance. Bought my RS3 from New in 2018. Has just under 70k miles on it and it's never missed a beat. Gets serviced at Audi every year. I do an in between oil change myself, and never scrimp on keeping it maintained. Always use super unleaded and a fuel system cleaner twice a year. Judging by the sound of the owner he's some cheapskate Asian kid who wanted the high performance motor but wanted to maintain it on the cheap. Also looks like it's been messed with in more ways than one! Look after these things and I'd say they generally will be very reliable
