I've had my LCR for 10 years now. Got it after hip replacement surgery. My heavier guns became too uncomfortable for concealed carry. The LCR has worked out great. Mine is 38 spl. Did two upgrades. Put a Hi Viz green dot front sight on it, and a set of Roger's Enhanced LCR Grips. This is my daily carry and I am very confident with it.

@user-jd8gv9td3l I like the Roger's grips way better than the stock LCR grips. I can get all three fingers on the grip, no pinky dangle. Also, my speed loaders work better as the Roger's is a harder rubber than the Hogue grips, allowing the speed loader to slide in faster and more precisely. Practicing reloading is a breeze.

Did yours come with the big dot front sight originally? I thought about sending mine to Novak to get slicked up. Do you think this is overkill for an up close personal gun? I just checked out the grips an ordered a pair. Thank you for sharing!

Just watched you review of the Ruger LCR 38 special. Your evaluation of the firearm was right on. Honest, not exagerated and considerably accurate. I have had over the years a number of pistols,22, 32, 380 and 9 models. Each one having one special benefit, but over all I like the Ruger 38 special LCR. You hit the nail on the head. Keep posting.

I started carrying in my 1968 rookie year and the main thing I learned is large, heavy guns eventually get left behind. In retirement my EDC is a light J Frame, or LCP if the .38 cannot be adequately concealed.

Nice video. At the range, after about 5 cylinders of 38's, I am done. Kind of abusive on the hand, even with these nice, big grips. I can easily shoot 100 rounds of 124 grain HST and FMJ 9mm in my Hellcat and not experience much hand abuse. everyone is different.

I found this model to be too light for me, personally (I use to have the LCRx .38 Special +P; traded it in for the .357 Magnum LCR)... And it's not a 'range gun', anyway - but you should still practice with it from time to time. Now .357 Magnum through the Magnum model are absolutely BRUTAL; like you're firing a high-powered .44 Magnum, in terms of recoil (best saved for defensive purposes only)!... Going up to the much heavier SP101 is also another option.

I'm also a snubby fan, but unfortunately my eyes are too tired for small ramp sights. That's why for ME the best carry revolver is the LCRX 3". I give up pocket carry, but the weight is unbelievable for its zise and I have proper adjustable sights with fiber optic front. In a sticky holster appendix is my always gun when I don't want to carry a gun.

The LCR 38 is a great gun, but IMO the 9mm version has a big advantage with faster reloading with moonclips. Sure, you can use speedloaders with the 38 but those are bulkier to carry and cost over 40.00 each, whereas 9mm moonclips are in the 5.00 range. It also shoots 9mm +P which is also more powerful than 38 +P, and 9mm is often less expensive & more available.

The LCRx 38+p and 3" SP101 .357 are probably my most carried guns. The LCRx is so easy to conceal and light. I was looking at my buddies Sig compact last night, not sure the model, but small compact 9mm. It is twice the weight of an LCRx and not as easy to conceal. The revolver is just as simple as it gets and can be way more powerful than any auto. Of course I'm talking about the big dogs, .357, .44, .454, .45 Colt, .460 S&W, .480 Ruger, .50 Wyoming and .500 S&W. But of course we are talking about small concealable guns here. And the .38+p does not dissappoint. Hell, if you want, you could even shoot Buffalo Bore .38+p hard cast Keith Outdoorsman, also known as the .357 short. Anyway, the LCRx is just a nice warm weather carry option with speed loaders in my opinion. I do also have an early 1980's Walther PPK in 9mm Kurz or .380 acp that I have yet to test. But man, that thing is also a nice little pocket gun profile.

Great job with this video. I pretty much agree with everything you have to say about the LCR. I prefer my S&W 340 PD for pocket/ankle carry, due to the smaller grip. However, the LCR checks more boxes in stock form than the competition does in my opinion. The trigger is excellent, the sights are fine for a snubbie and the front sight is pinned for an upgrade. Lastly, the recoil is mitigated by the polymer sub frame and the excellent Hogue grip. Definitely less felt recoil than my S&W 340 PD and Kimber K6S. The Kimber K6S DAO is a really nice revolver, but is much heavier. The LCR is a great all round carry piece! Thanks for sharing.

I have this gun and shooting+P ammo out of this thing is nothing short of painful. Muzzle flip, muzzle blast and recoil are off the charts. This gun is no fun to practice with and you won’t be shooting more than a couple of cylinders with this nasty little pocket pistol and you will be done for the day. You better drop your perp with the first round too because he will be on you before you can fire off a follow up shot. Don’t buy this gun amigos, you will regret it after the first time you fire it. Light and concealable for sure, but I promise you you will have buyers remorse after the first cylinder of +P ammo. If you want an LCR that’s fun to shoot and can serve as a reliable defensive weapon, get the 8 shot LCR in 22 LR. Many have done exactly that after one session at the range with this nasty, hand stinging, recoiling, muzzle flipping beast. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
