Thanks for sharing this! I use a similar training method when teaching in my school of Taichi, to help with developing the body frame that can efficient transmit force, before we can move on to using intra-abdominal pressure for more power. We also have a particular fist-clenching method that sounds like there’s a parallel with yours - contracted core, relaxed peripheral - yes?
