I totally relate to finishing a half marathon and going "how am I supposed to do that distance twice?!" completing the full marathon was one of the hardest yet most rewarding goals I've made myself, and I hoping to do my first ultra next spring! 😊

I ran my first marathon last year, just a few days away from my 65th birthday and with a time of 4h 54min! I found that running up to my first half marathon was about pushing my physical boundaries, but running my first marathon was all about really learning to run. There was so much more to learn!

I definitely recommend setting A, B and C goals for the marathon. I went into my first marathon with just a single goal, realised I`ll fail just after halfway mark and it was a huge mental struggle from then on. Eventually finished like half an hour slower than my goal, but determined to do better next time - and I did. There are just so many variables in a marathon, some might be less than ideal and it's really good to have the mind on your side at that point.

You've got this Sarah! These videos have helped me a lot. I am an out of shape dad of young children so I decided to sign up for a marathon because I thought I needed to try something impossible. I couldn't run a mile without breaks several months ago. Now I'm running 6-7 miles at a time without a problem. My marathon is in October. I can't believe I've come this far, it's already changed my life. Thanks for making videos with "normal" people. It seems much more achievable than watching world class athletes telling me I need train seven hours a day.

Strangely enough 42k is not the same as 2x21k. The distance yes, but the mental preparation for the event is totally different. Also the whole running crowd, the event, people cheering and everything is so amazing and worth the effort of very hard training and a very hard running event.

Hi, and I absolutely love your channel. This is because you show that you don't have to be slim / skinny to run. This has helped me a lot to start running. I started running at the end of 2019, together with my husband. And I do it with great pleasure and always completely relax. September 2020 I ran my first half marathon 🏃♀️. I was so proud of myself when I walked this one (without walking through). The next day only a little pain in the thighs 🙂 but that's part of it. This year I will definitely run the half marathon again, and maybe in the new shoes 👟 Keep up your channel 👍 Greetings isa

My first ever marathon was the Amsterdam marathon and I enjoyed it so much that I ended up doing it 3 years in a row. The whole city gets behind it and the course is great, the support is great and there has been no better experience than starting and finishing in the Olympic stadium. You have really picked a great marathon as your first! And I did it in the Wave Rider for two of those three times too, and so I can safely say you have a good shoe that will be comfortable throughout and especially in the later stages. Enjoy!

So I did my first marathon last October - the Virtual London - at the age of 64, after less than 4 years of running. I hit the wall at 20 miles but had planning running buddies to join me for that phase just to get me through. I was pleased with 4:33 but of course the unfinished business is (hopefully) the real thing this October. With the training not feeling any easier this time round, half of me is confident that I have done it once (I just want to get under 4:20 this time) but the other half is remembering just how long it took me to recover last time. I discovered Mizumo shoes during the year and will definitely be using them (definitely a newer pair!) for the big race.
