Adolf Putler is cynical and blunt, the difference is that the expansion of NATO occurs within the law as it is done at the request of each country that wants to join the alliance, but the expansion of Russia is done in a criminal and illegal way. that countries are attacked, threatened or invaded into submitting to Russian rule. Kozyrev is RIGHT! Russian expat 'The Researcher' made an excellent video a year ago about this subject which says exactly the same thing in more details. Look for 'NATO's Broken Promises? The Controversial Truth About Non-Extension Guarantees'.

Of course he's right. Anybody who lived through that period knows that. There was never a real promise not to incorporate countries from Eastern Europe, former Warsaw Pact countries, into NATO. Only on a lower level someone suggested something like that by a person who was not involved in the negotiations, but that was very quickly dismissed as unfeasible. Countries are sovereign nations and have the right to engage in any organization they wish. Even Russia itself at one time tried to join, but pulled out of it in 2008 because they were not given any exclusive rights that others don't have. They had to meet the same requirements as any other country. You can easily find this information online. What is less known is that the KGB never really lost control of the state. It was just punched unconscious for a while and had to adjust to the new reality. But with the appearance of Putin on the stage, they gained their own old fashioned resolve back and ever since they have been working against everything that was achieved in the years after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Bit by bit they are taking back their ground and that is what we see today.

@@telebubba5527 Well said! However my focus is on the propaganda. Putin says countries are FORCED to join NATO which is what HE does with his kleptocracy. Videos which explain what you say are removed from YT, people who spread the message get flagged by bots. Large social networks are complacent.

, the thing you forget is its up the the individual countries if they desire to join NATO, unlike the former ruZZian federation where they invade and demand you join. Thanks to putins treachery former happily neutral countries elected to join NATO as they couldnt take living next to a bad neighbour led by a psychotic dictator.

So what did happend to them? There are many like Lavrov, Russian prominents who used to be... a lot more than they are now. Gerasimov was a brilliant military thinker, studied by all - now he writes essays about beards? Lavrov was a brilliant diplomat. Medvedev was once a hope for a better Russia, I'm not even mentioning what he is up to now. Whatever happened to all these people? Kozyrev didn't know - maybe Kyiv Post could find out, and tell us? I actually want to know. Changes nothing I suppose, and I've givn up on finding "good Russians" to put my hopes in, but I still think it is important to understand how people change like that.

Its even wurse. Why would the US make a single sided promise not to move eastward with NATO. Best of all if the Russians are so concerned about this. They took the step to in 1992 start the CTS that later became the CTSO (there own NATO version). 5 years before NATO expanded to the east! Did we ever complain about that in the West ? The legal point if Russia can start a military alliance, why can NATO not expanded? Besides the former Warschawpact countries have no rights and Russia has ?

This promise to Gorbatschow was confirmed by James Baker, the then Foreign Minister of the USA. I heard him confirming this promise myself, when I attended his public speech at a Private Bank meeting in Zurich 25 years ago. He said this confirmation was done in response to Gorbatschow allowing the re united Germany to join NATO. Once more I heard this promise confirmed by Horst Teltschik, the former chief of Kanzleramt of Helmut Kohl, when he held a lecture about Germany's reunification at the University of Zurich !

Young people have difficulty enunciating syllables. Sometimes they just skip the middle syllables altogether. I notice Ben Lee of TVP world does the same thing. Although I love these young men, I do wish they would take a speech class, or at least slow down and stop slurring their words. Hate to say this as an American, but it’s a very American thing to do. If you want to be a broadcaster on international television, get a speech professional to assist on words of more than three syllables…PLEASE! ENUNCIATE.
