If you had turned north you would have got to Valley of the Gods, a BLM area. I won't say it is as good as Monument Valley but it is in the same neighborhood, And it FREE dispersed camping. And north of that is the Moki Dugway with spectacular views 1500 feet above the valley below. You can see Monument Valley from the top of the Moki. You probably would not consider taking your TT up that road, But you could drop the TT at VOG and drive up it,

Natural Bridges National Monument is an hour from Goosenecks (take the Moki Dugway; otherwise it's an hour and half). Hovenweep National Monument is an hour and 15 minutes from Goosenecks. Both very worth visiting.

Thanks... As prelude to our Mighty Five trip last year, we did Mesa Verde, Monument Valley (Forest Gump Hill) and Goosenecks. Also, Valley of the Gods, Natural Bridges National Monument and Moab on our counterclockwise loop. Dead Horse Point State Park is an awesome park and a great basecamp for Arches, Canyonlands and Moab. Kodachrome Basin State Park is also awesome and a great basecamp for Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and Bryce. The Utah state parks are very good.

Next time you are in southwest Wyoming, consider Flaming Gorge. Crosses over into Utah. Beautiful place! Green River and Rock Springs are on the north side. Dutch John and the Red Canyon on the south side. Highly recommend.

OH MY STARS!! Sean was fabulous!! Lol! He tipped us off to some of the coolest hikes, NOT within Arches!! We unfortunately did not meet his wife, but his dog was pretty cool. Can’t say enough about him! Right from when we pulled in to our departure. He always came around every night asking how things were. Though he didn’t call us by our names, he DID say every time “Hey, Michigan’s! How’s it going? Need anything?” Thanks for highlighting them!

Thank you for sharing this gem. The wind in this video was hard to appreciate, until Sean showed the interior shots of the Airstream, particularly the "sloshing" water in the coffee pot. Love Sean's humor about the "Airstream was a rocking". Forest Gump hill was a cool add-in, as I think most fans appreciate seeing movie shot locations. Lastly, that was quite a morbid suggestion where Sean suggested a Loloho "road kill" incident be posted; but I appreciate his humor. Long live Loloho! Great video!

Goosenecks is a favorite of mine. Note that the wind is strongest right on the rim, it is often much less across the ‘road’. Don’t miss Valley the Gods for wonderful dispersed camping.

Well, if you are still down there, you might as well visit Valley of the Gods and Natural Bridges National Monument. 🙂The Needles side of Canyonlands is off the beaten track. And if you are visiting southern Utah, don't pass up a day visit (at least) to Dead Horse Point State Park.

Spent 4 days in the same spot at Goosenecks early July 2019. Yes it was hot. Spent a week this last fall in Valley of the Gods. Plan to hit the area again in the Spring. Long drive from South Carolina but well worth it.

We love Goosenecks too! Kodachrome State park is incredible too. All of Utah is incredible. Up in the northeastern part you will find amazing Dinosaur history and bones and all the things at Dinosaur Monument! It is incredible there too!

We spent a week here as a base camp. Our trailer was parked about where your was. We loved it and we could then visit all the amazing sites in this area. We didn't have any problems with the wind. We did in the Badlands, though. I got one bar on AT&T but T-Mobile was useless. I concur that there is no water. Valley of the gods is close.

Good video. I visited Goosenecks many years ago when I did Valley of the Gods. Great trip - spring. I think the reason there are only 8 campsites is the WIND. Probably very windy there all the time due to the canyons.

Sorry you experienced such bad weather at Gooseneck Park. I've been there a number of times. Did you drive though Valley of the Gods across the highway? How about going up Moki Dugway that is north on that highway? Left at the top would get you to Muley Point overlook. The view from the top of the cliff is spectacular, you see so many goosenecks in the river. There used to be a Mexican Cafe with a dozen cars in the parking lot. The next three times though town we notice it was the same cars in the lot. Did you know that Forest stopped, turned around, told the people he was tired and wanted to go home. Then goes the wrong way. Thanks for sharing, it brought back many memories.

Makes me think of boon docking just outside of badlands in SD, same sort of setup with an edge overlooking the barren land below and the winds whip through there pretty good, rocking for sure! I also connected my camper just to be sure especially since I was near the edge. Was in an Aliner in the same spot another time and used a rope over the top and still the roof was pulsating...just like you said it's fun to go there at least once...

I stayed at Gooseneck a couple of years ago in May, almost in that same spot. I had to leave after a couple of days the wind was so bad. I went 'across the street' to Valley of The Gods and stayed there for 2 weeks and was the best boondocking spot I ever stayed at.

I’ve been through that area multiple times never knew of it. Friends of mine went to Kodachrome Park south of Zion last weekend although there was too much snow to enjoy it fully they thought it was a beautiful spot.

Goosenecks is awesome! When we went in July of 2019 we arrived in the afternoon and had no problem getting one of the picnic bench sites. unfortunately it turned out to be a little cloudy so we couldn't do the stargazing we had planned on.

Thanks for another great video. I was in the very same spot at Goosenecks back in mid-October of 2021 in my dual wheel class B+. Part of my journal entry for a night of thunderstorms and sleet: "Here on the very edge of the canyon I hear the wind and the Chinook is rocking. Great views out my windows though!". The next, morning I drove north over the Moki Dugway into the snow; amazing country. One of my favorite spots on that trip was west, across the state at the Red Canyon campground in Dixie National Forest; lots of hiking, mountain biking and boondocking opportunities. The only downside is that it is so far from our New England home!

Maple Canyon campground is a nice spot. It is very popular in the rock climbing community. Campsites are spread out nice and although it gets busy you get a sense of privacy. I’m not sure how RV friendly the sites are since we were all in 4X4 rigs with RTTs. Great video

Yes, the drone technology is incredible. Honestly, I was taking a bit of a risk flying the drone with some of those stiff winds, but the new models seem to handle everything that is thrown at them. They are remarkably stable.

I grew up in that area. I am shocked that you didn't mention the small town of Mexican Hat, just eight miles away. I grew up there. My parents owned the San Juan Trading Post, Motel and Cafe. My dad also owned Canyon County Scenic Tours in Mexican Hat. He took tourists to Monument Valley, Goosenecks, Valley of the gids Muley Point, Natural Bridges and Lake Powell. Mexican Hat is still very small but there are businesses there worth seeing. My parents' business is now owned by Julie Sword or Palmer. I can't recall her last name.

I'd recommend the Great Salt Lake Antelope Island State Park. Spectacular views and great dry camping available. It's great in the Spring and Fall, but too hot and miserable during the Summer months.Different bt memorable.

Recommend Pere Marquette State Park in SW Illinois. At the confluence of Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Grafton, IL has some cool activities and wineries. You could be "under the influence at the confluence". Beautiful CCC built lodge with dining. Campground is electric only or primitive. Ample water locations and recently upgraded dump station. Bike path to Grafton and beyond along the river. The Brussels ferry is a must do to get to locally grown fruits and vegetables.

As I recall, if you're traveling from Monument Valley to Mexican Hat, there is a 10% downward grade and a sharp right turn at the end in Mexican Hat. Be careful!

Proposed to my wife over a campfire, in the site you were in 10 years ago. It was a still, crystal clear, crescent moonlit evening with not a neighbor to be found. No SP back then and ZERO amenities, but also no fees & no one to collect them. You think it’s remote now! Shoulder seasons are MUCH nicer, but avoid it in the Summer - HOT.

🇨🇦 We had a site in Labrador that I thought we'd get blown off. Also on the îles de la Madeleine in the Gulf of St. Lawrence when the tale end of Dorion came through. The winds were so high that a telephone pole snapped off at the base very close to us. But the worst was the wind blew our front electric foot off the cement block it was on as the trailer swivelled a foot or two clockwise and the tongue jack dropped to the ground a foot or so. No damage if you can believe it! 🇨🇦

The summer before COVID we made a trip from NC to Utah to visit family. On the way back we stayed at the KOA right outside Monument Valley so my husband could get his movie nostalgia fix (mind-blowing natural beauty) and we drove to Mexican Hat to eat at the Swingin' Steak. It was definitely worth the trip to see our food cooked on a big swinging grill over a fire. A quirky place, but the food was great. It is worth a stop!

We found Goodenecks a couple years ago. We were coming out of Colorado, and hit it on the way back to California. It is a gorgeous park, and for only $10, it is a steal. Glad you got to see it. Being able to park right up to the canyon is amazing. Cell service is poor to non-existent, but that’s ok. We’ll done! I hate to be stinghy (sp?) with knowing about it, now more people will know!

I would have figured that the closer an RVer parks near the cliff, the stronger the compounding wind velocity hits to cornice as the upward turbulence and eddies spirals upward. Do you have any recommendations on how far back to park your RV away from the edge of the cliff?

Utah is a awesome place. I lived there for a few years, but didn't get to all the places I wanted to visit with work and general life stuff. Definitely want to go back. How's the truck holding up? I rewatched your video on bulletproofing recently. I think your truck will only appreciate in value given the way things are going with emissions on the new trucks.
