I heard you say that your insurance provider determined that your surgery was “elective” so you paid a higher amount. It sounds as though your insurance provider simply needs additional information on your case. It’s appropriate to call the doctor who did the surgery and explain what happened and ask them to send a letter of explanation to your insurance provider. I can’t guarantee that they will pay but it’s certainly worth the effort. I worked in insurance for over 20 years and learned that it usually means not enough information was given at the time of billing. Best of luck. I enjoy your videos even though I no longer have my RV.

The insurance for those over 65 is not necessarily what you stated. Never never never get a Medicare Advantage plan!!! Medicare part A and B with a supplement is the best! At least that is my humble opinion.

I've been subscribed since there were less than 5k subscribers and I must say, Liz, you're hooking up with Paul is the best possible turn of events that's come your way since you first took to the road. You are both blessed to have each other. I will try to watch your ads to help you earn another two or three cents per view because you've certainly encountered some expenses. Travel safe and get yourself a good chair to support you.

This is interesting.... I’m not a big techy person.... I understand that the more subscribers one has the better their chances for being paid, but not sure how this works. So you mentioned watching the ads..... that helps the youtuber? Is it necessary to watch ad to end to get benefit?

@@jennyd8826, I have limited insight to the mechanisms employed by KZbin to compensate the content creators. KZbin is a business that offers a way for content creators to share their thoughts, experiences, and their expertise with others. I am part of the world population who enjoys watching KZbin videos and be entertained or enlightened or both. With that large viewing audience, commercial businesses want to advertise to show their products and services to the same viewing audience. So, KZbin has a way now to compensate creators and one way to do that is with the program they call “ad sense” (or some similar sounding name). Viewers who watch KZbin can often skip ads, but those who do watch the ads generate some small amount of revenue for the content creators such as Liz Amazing. As I understand it, if you watch the first 30 seconds of an advertisement, it counts as if you watched the entire ad, at least for the purpose of generating ad sense revenue for the content creators. I’ve noticed some ads are much longer than the videos I watch. The ads of Doctor Gundry, if you’ve ever seen one of those, can easily run 30 minutes or more. Some content creators I am willing to help by watching the ads. Some I’m not interested in doing that. The content creators seldom have any control over whose ads are shown, but then some videos have paid sponsors. If a content creator is deemed controversial, their content can be demonetized which means KZbin is not willing to compensate that particular video. So, to summarize, KZbin does compensate the content creators and watching the ads contributes to their compensation.

NFORMATION: My wife has worked at a large Medical Clinic for thirty years. She works in the insurance pre-certification dept. It's her job to try to convince Insurance companies to pay for the services including surgeries that your Doctor has ordered. She is your advocate. She calls the insurance company with your information and Doctors information. Not uncommon for her to spend a hour on hold getting switched from person to person trying to find a decision person. This is usually a Insurance Company Nurse who will make the initial decision if you really need the services or surgery. That Nurse doesn't know you, has never met you, doesn't know your Doctor but yet that Nurse can and does make the decision that your Doctor misdiagnosed, or it's a elective surgery and not needed. Once denied my wife request a "pier to pier" which is the Insurance Company Doctor talking to your Doctor.....again their Doctor has never met you or seen your illness or problem in person. Again, their Doc will usually turn down the request for services payment. Then it goes to a appeal..........while this is going on you are still sick or hurting. ALSO: For us Medicare aged people especially this time of year with the sign up time period upon us...........DON'T GO WITH ALL IN ONE Carriers for your coverage. They are private companies and you can go through the aforementioned nightmare. MEDICARE from the Government along with a quality Supplement is your BEST OPTION. Medicare through the Government usually does not require pre-certification. In VERY rare situations they might require a alternative treatment process......but if that doesn't work your Medicare & Supplement have you covered except for a very minimal yearly deduction ($180.00) ORIGINAL MEDICARE & QUALITY SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE is the very best way to go. PLEASE be nice to Insurance Pre-Cert people on the phone......they work hard for you!

Thanks RIchard! Very good and helpful information, and thanks to your wife, too!

@@LizAmazing You are very welcome Liz! I hope your procedure gets you back to 100 percent. As a suggestion, I would try again with your Insurance Companies decision. Ask for a appeal....never hurts to try. Paul is so right about Gov. Medicare and a supplemental. They accepted me on the supplement with no problem.....that's after ankle reconstruction, total knee replacement, stroke, thyroid tumors removal, meniscus repair, heart attack with three stints, ongoing spinal stenosis, spinal scoliosis, herniated & ruptured discs...I'm a mess!!!! LOL...........sure not "cheap to keep" LOL!!! Along with Government Medicare and outstanding supplemental insurance from Omaha that use to sponsor "The Wild Kingdom" we still have my wife's work health insurance .......things are well covered. Paul, you are a awesome guy as I am with my wife........Liz, I wish you the VERY best! God's blessing and a hug your way!

Hi Liz & Paul, We watch & enjoy all of your videos. I wanted to let you know I had the same surgery as you in 2002. Micro L4/L5. Best of luck as you continue to recover and wish you all the best in 2022. Regards, Thom

Have you appealed the insurance ruling? Document the bills, coverage, etc. and send it first to the Insurance Co one more time, then file it with the Insurance Dept of the state where your policy application was written. We’ve learned this lesson for each other and helping others. When someone is in pain or in a compromised position they are not capable of making clear decisions. My husband had a herniated disc and was down for over two months. I cannot imagine having to go through something like this while on the road.🤦♀️ take good care.❤️

Darris, great point!!! That was certainly what Paul and I learned, but it took a few weeks for that to really sink in. We won't make that mistake twice. Hugs to you and your husband.

So glad you are better. We RV’d near Dauphin Island this year. If you get back there, the Lighthouse Bakery is worth the trip. They aren’t open everyday so check their website. The Audubon Bird Sanctuary on the Island is also a nice relaxing walk.

My goodness. I am so thankful you are feeling better. You look like you are doing well. That healthcare issue is soooooo scary. I’m so glad you were able to get the care you needed. Paul is a champ. I got married just over 4 years ago and my husband is retired military. My gracious I can only say how thankful I am for our health care. Medicare and Tricare for life has saved my life in that it has taken not only the expense and worry out of my life but given me access to quality healthcare. I feel for those of you that don’t have access to this. Liz I’m just so glad you are doing better and can get back to doing what you love. Kudos to Paul.

Good you are doing better and got to the help you needed. Protest the insurance! I stopped going to chiropractor with my back when I was hurting more after treatment. Unfortunately chiropractors sometimes continue with treatment when they shouldn’t because they think they can cure everything. I hope you stay close to Mobile to get continued care for a while. It’s a fun city and area to explore.

Wow Liz. Im so happy to see you improving. It’s wonderful to see you both again. It’s absolutely appalling that the insurance company could coldly state that your surgery was elective. I don’t know how they can sleep at night. God bless you both!!

I knew you were wanting to avoid surgery but I had the exact same thing. And I also wanted to avoid surgery. But once it was decided that’s what I needed I never thought I would be so excited about a surgery. I’m so happy you were able to get it done once you decided. It can’t be elective surgery. You need to fight that. How was it when you woke up? My pain was completely gone. Like day and night. Take care and prayers for complete healing.

I had sciatica a few years ago. Sitting just made it worse. It was so painful but not as incapacitating as yours. Glad the surgery has helped you! My niece has been battling sciatica for some time and taking narcotics but still in pain.. The MRI showed that she needed surgery which she had last week and is doing better. Hope you get stronger every day.
@LizAmazing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joan! I found that narcotics didn't touch this kind of pain so I stopped using them. I did get a little relief from Cyclobenzoprine which I got in week three. It allowed me to sleep through the pain somewhat. I'm glad your niece got the surgery and glad to hear she is doing better!

I had that very same surgery in 1996. A pro sports medicine doctor diagnosed and did the procedure as outpatient. 9 days after, the pain was gone, and I've never had a flare up. Hope you recover as well.

This is why standing desks have become so popular. We are not made for sitting. If you have to sit, get up and stretch and walk every hour. Also, strengthening your core helps with the back.

Ive worked for an Insurance company over 22 years. Make sure you appeal regarding elective surgery category. Make them explain all parts of your bill. If you are not satisfied, file a complaint to their Fraud Waste and Abuse department. Not saying any would help however, your understanding of all bills any payment is important so you do not get railroaded. :)

I knew about the Community Tab but it's not accessible if you are using an iPad unfortunately. You do NOT get notified of postings on the Community Tab and I have "rung the bell." Paul, you are a hero in this whole situation, especially since Liz was not able to take over part of the driving. The stress of that must have been unbearable. The fact that you found this doctor is a miracle! And that he was able to schedule surgery so quickly. It really is amazing. I also have to comment on your bike injuries...God! That's sounds horrible. Sounds like you were hit by a car. Not sure if I'd want to continue biking after that experience. Liz, you are looking amazing! Hope the other issues resolve in time. Please appeal the insurance decision because that's ridiculous. Thanks for the video, esp. the part of making sure you have a hefty emergency fund.
