However, 2025 will likely be the first time two Jewish players go in the first round of NBA draft - Ben Saraf who is a real rotation player in German league & EuroCup at 18 and dominated for Israel at U18, and Danny Wolf at U of Michigan looking like a more raw 7’0” Franz Wagner. Anyone who thinks Turell is even a EuroLeague or NBAGL player though is biased and has no credibility

Interesting player. His story reminds me of Tamir Goodman, an Orthodox Jewish player from Baltimore in the late 90s who later played at Towson University and Israel for several years before wrapping up his career in the minor league Premier Basketball League. In Goodman's case, he was a top point guard recruit with amazing court vision but there were issues surrounding accommodating some of his religious requirements such as him not playing on the Sabbath (which is why he transferred from University of Maryland, where he could've been part of the 2002 National Championship team). Ryan Turrell MIGHT make it into the NBA for short spells if everything lines up for him, but it's more likely Israel will be his new home during and after his career.

This is just like the story of Tamir Goodman. It was 20 years ago or so but he was an orthodox Jew who eventually played for the University of Maryland and then went overseas to play. There was a ton of hype on his name and he was also known as the Jewish Jordan. If a Jewish player is ultra-orthodox there's no way they can play in the NBA because they would not be allowed to play Friday nights or Saturday before dark. Shalom.😊
