To test the processor, it's best to run at 1080P. In AlanWake, the RTX 4090 is already at 99% utilization, with the RTX 4090 being the bottleneck and not the processor. So the more expensive processor doesn't seem to make a difference.

You have to differentiate between pure CPU performance tests and tests under real life conditions, and imo both are useful. If every test would just run at 1080p and show huge FPS differences and people would buy the CPU because of that, they just would get disappointed when playing at a resolution that is actually way more likely for the GPU they're having when not seeing any notable increase in performance. Considering that when you just want to see which one you should buy for the setup and resolution you're actually using a test like this for me seems way more useful.

Biggest diffs will be on 1080p. 1440p is already low performance diff and 4k will be close to no difference. Only game I’m aware that could be different is tarkov cuz it likes x3d cpu’s very much.

@@iLikeRNG Yes what you say is true but don't forget not all people are wanting that maximum difference between CPU's. Some people that game at 1440p or 4k only want to see if certain games actually can benefit or not. They don't care if 1080p one is better.

Yeah I needed one more AM5 CPU and the week before found a 7600 sealed in the box for $150 from a local ad. I would have been happy with two of those but then Amazon dropped the 7700X down to $220 and I jumped on it. A few days later it was $210. Way overkill as I didn't need more than a 7500F as it ended up my 6yr olds PC with 6750XT/B650/7700X on 1440p. Two Media PC's have 7600X already on 4k 60hz screens and they are running good but smaller 92mm Noctua coolers. It felt weird to give my 6yr old the fastest production CPU in the house as I have 3x 7800X3D and they are slower in production sort of workloads but since we are only focused on gaming performance it doesn't matter. My daughter has a good Noctua U12A Chromax so after factoring in where the best use and best cooling it ended up in her build. Would have been happy with a good $120 7500F or $150 7600. Co worker is going to sell me his 7800X3D for $200 once he buys a 9800X3D so that 7600 will get pushed to garage or sold off.
