Owned 3. 2X2004 and 1X2012. Never got less than 52mpg. Riding slow in NC mountains and across the great salt lake got 62.2 mpg and both of those times I was pulling a trailer. Toured the lower 48 on it twice. The only negative I had with it is the small tires. They did ok but did wear out around 7k miles. Great storage, easy to ride, lots of accessories, easy to work on, and F-U-N.

@@muckle8 Nary a problem with anything. Had 60k miles on each of the 2004 models and less than 30k on the 2012 model. (Edited my post above as I had typed they were 2005 models, but were 2004)

I'm a motorcyclist that due to having two hip replacements could'nt use any of my bikes so invested in an FJS600 maxi-scooter so i can keep riding on two wheels as a scooter eases the problem of lifting my leg over. I tried a Suzuki Burgman 650 but found that much heavier than the honda. Its a great machine in most respects. Thanks for the video from the UK.

I bought mine brand new in 07’. What a fun scooter. Multiple 600+ mile day trips, two trips from Southern California to Yellowstone and 2 IronButt SaddleSore 1ks. Never a breakdown. Only oil, tires and the occasional cvt belt. I have 55k miles on her now and no plans to get rid of her. With a Givi Air-flow windshield I get about 45-50mpg rarely under 80 on the freeway….and ATGATT for me.

Im going to put a tiny quibble on the "you can't tour (go out of town) on a "smaller" scooter. I have owned 3 scooters. A yamaha Majesty 400. A yamaha morphous 250 and a Honda helix 250. All three were/are fine touring mounts. The 400 was obviously faster. (a bit over 100 mph) and had a trunk a lot like the SW. It's little brother, the helix was a 65 mph ride.. maybe 70.(i got 72) but with that 10 inch rear wheel.. you don't want faster!. The current bike is the 250 morphous. Top speed is 75 or 80.. depending on which rollers i have in. Stock is 80 indicated and at least 75 GPS speed. I have put 30,000 miles on the morphous, i put 20,000 on the maj before it was stolen and wrecked.. and 20,000 on the helix before i sold it. I hasn't run the morphous all day (4 am to 8:30 pm) and 800 miles. With not a hiccup. The 400 ran a600 mile day at 85 mph (eureka springs ark to Chicago) so the Swing is not the minimum. Others may not like the 250 but i find it perfectly adequate for my needs. Mpg.. 400/ 55-60. Morphous 60-65 mpg helix 65-70. Since my needs and preference is 55 mph roads, not interstate... any of those (or the SWING OR the two burgers. Or any Hond from 250 to 600 for that matter) I love the scooter style.

I have an 04 model in burgundy. It’s what I learned to ride on. Very, very, usable and practical bike with the huge amount of storage and easy to ride. So glad I started on this bike before getting my Harley iron 883. Even the 600cc scooter was very intimidating to me in the beginning! Unfortunately my son wrecked it and really jacked up the plastics but it still runs and goes. Mine has developed a transmission leak! It’s leaking fluid from behind the front pulley on the cvt. I’ve pulled the entire pulley off and investigated. There seems to be some gaskets or seals with some retaining clips but I’m having a terrible time finding any information about what to do with it or how to fix this? It seems like this must be extremely rare since I cannot find any information on yt or websites or anywhere? Might have to take it to a shop which I hate to do since I’m sure I could fix it myself if I just had some more information about what parts or seals I need and where to get them? Really love this bike!

All based on how fast they go. A regular bike with a motor on it is technically a motor cycle but you wouldn't drive behind one on the highway willingly.

If it's a motor driven cycle, it's a motorcycle. Technically you could expand that to cars, they were once referred to as auto-cycles or quadracycles. So isn't a car a motor cycle also? English doesn't always make sense.

Scooters by definition have the motor mounted to the swing arm, motorcycles have the motor fixed to the frame, modern scoots have blurred the definition.

That’s crazy I have a 2021 Kawasaki Z 900 RS café (948cc) motorcycle it gets better gas mileage and weighs less. My motorcycle weighs 473 pounds wet makes 111 hp as a top speed of 145 miles an hour and gets 43 miles to the gallon. 0 to 60 in 3.0 seconds. I’m just amazed that little scooter weighs more than my bike and it’s less fuel economy. Don’t get me wrong I love anything with two wheels and a motor but I was surprised to see that it weighed more than my motorcycle.
