This maybe the first Saab channel that will potentially hit 100k. Keep it up man. I wanted to do this with my Viggen but I knew that the fan base wasn’t big enough. But you maybe proving me wrong. Good on you brother. Keep it going. Cheers.

Nice work on your brake job. You were clear on the procedure and specifics on parts and suppliers. Your notations on on tool types and sizes are nice touch and very helpful. Silver looks great with the wheel color. Like your low dust on the front pads concern. Will have to keep the ceramic brake pads on the rear an option. Looking forward to hearing your review on the slotted discs. I feel confident in giving it a go myself when I get the chance. By the way, thanks for the "bolt on" preference comment. Seems to make jobs easier conceptually. It also gives me more comfort somehow as I'd like to stay away from custom work too. Always a joy to watch your and Kyle's KZbins. Saab forever!

What I don’t understand is, I get that leather upholstery costs a lot. But the 9-3 carlsson got leather dash, hand brake, door handles. And the turbo x got the best possible plastic trim
@AutoAutopsy4 жыл бұрын
The carlsson had leather dash and door handles? I didn’t know. I wish they were leather in all 9-3’s

@@AutoAutopsy yea as standard, I thought it was a mod when I found one on auto trader. Then I looked at 6 more and they all had it. It would’ve been so clean to have all leather

Looks great. Silver is cool. Red might be a bit too racer boy. Good choice! For those big bolts on the brackets. Grab the 3pk of 1/2" impact grade sockets at Harbor Freight for those star bolts, your breaker bar and a 2 foot section of 1.5" dia. cast iron or steel pipe as a torque arm. The pipe can be slid all the way in while positioning the wrench and then extended out for up to a 3.5ft breaker bar. Jack the car high and give her heck. That bolt will not have a prayer of sticking. Mine all broke loose. Plus it's easier to torque it back on later.

Lol good advice. I’ll have to save that for next time 😂

Red Loctite - just use a torch to heat the fastener up and will easily come off. Go back with blue and you'll be fine. With the new brakes you will be able, to use an old phrase, stop on a dime and give 9 cents change! Well done sir!!

Lol! Thank you! Heat was definitely going to be the next option for those bolts 😂

The 340mm 2 piston brakes from a Saab ng-95 Aero is a nice and cheap upgrade for your 9-3. Far better braking then the 1 piston brakes from the turbo x :)

it is useful to put some copper grease on the hub, before dics, also on the disc (the part on which the rim sits... - in case the wheels are difficult to remove). Also, one tip, better to clean the disc with a brake cleaner before mounting, so that it does not come into contact with the pads ...it's not the end of the world, but why not;)

Great video! I’ll be doing this next year to my Aero CV. 😬 To protect parts from corrosion get some Boeshield T-9. It waterproofs and protects parts from corrosion, rust, dust, and dirt. You’ll find it in good bicycle shops or online. You just need a thin coat since it’s made of wax and other lubricants. Also suggest getting a new hood liner. It’s like getting a change of underwear for your SAAB. eSaabParts have them.😉 After I got mine changed I now go out late at night just to open the hood and look at my fresh looking engine bay.😂

@@AutoAutopsy You’re welcome. I used your suggestion and went on r1’s website. I now have a full set of Aero rotors and ceramic pads on the way for just $249! Would have set me back $700. New brakes and rotor for X-Mas!

Can you share your findings to upgrade 345mm brakes with Brembo calipers? You mentioned some custom brackets etc. I simply want to upgrade my 314mm to 345mm with Brembo calipers as well.

Unfortunately they don’t offer anything with the 345mm as far as I can tell, it sucks. It would need to be something custom :/

Did you remove the cap from the reservoir when you compressed the calipers? Did you remove fluid?

I didn’t, the fluid didn’t overflow thankfully lol. A bit of an oversight, admittedly

My assumption would be that the brackets are slightly different since the caliper sits further out from the hub. Not certain on what would need to be changed though

Should i buy Saab 9-3 2.0t or 2.0T the milage on 2.0t is 176km and on the 2.0T 276km. Are those engines good enough with that milage? It would be my first car.

@browserrr14 жыл бұрын
Pure brake p*rn. The advantage with these slots is that you get even wear on the pads. I have seen pictures of pads that were used on dimpled disks and they showed a very uneven wear pattern with a streak that looked as if it wouldn't add much of braking power. The streak was caused by the dimples. If you don't have steel braided hoses yet I'd recommend to have that done too.
@AutoAutopsy4 жыл бұрын
That might be an upgrade at some point too. Thanks for the idea!

Btw.... link to the rotors ?
@AutoAutopsy4 жыл бұрын
you're supposed to lube those so they can slide easier. rotors are from R1 concepts, as i stated in the video.
@chrisbartkowicz20522 жыл бұрын
They are called slider pins. Allows the caliper to release once you are off the brake pedal. Longevity for the pads and to not have constant friction.
@byggs1294 жыл бұрын
come on, copper paste for the brakes...
@browserrr14 жыл бұрын
Agree, but EBC delivers a little satchet contaning some gunk that looks and feels like copper paste. I got it with a set of Green Stuff 9-5 front shoes. Bit disappointing they don't come with something better though.
