Great tips. One thing I do when alone and moving around - trying to blend in and not looking like a tourist. If I am using an app for directions or get turned around (another word for lost). I will step inside a store, coffee shop or something then get my bearings to see where I am, which direction I need to go. Nothing says tourist like looking lost and staring at your phone.

Always have a back up plan for transportation. I try to always arrive and depart in day light hours. I like to use public transportation but In case of delayed arrivals which get me into a new city st night I always use local cab or Uber apps as a back up. Check the license plate before you get into any Uber cars and make sure they match. Let the driver say your name first. Always have internet on your phone in any city upon arrival. Always have 2 battery back up charges with you ( not in a checked bag) . I never loose cell phone or internet connectivity. Like you said do your research before you get there. I also get Virtual pictures of Hotels, Train Stations , etc from outside so I can recognize my destinations. I also research inside of stations, where the elevators and escalators are located or if I’m dealing with a lot of steps. Never get in enclosed elevators without windows or those at back of stations. When you check in to hotel or AirBNB check locks on doors and windows. I take a night light Motion sensor and put somewhere near the entrance so I’m never entering a dark room . Consider a door lock or other extra sirène sensor to alert you that someone might be trying to enter. It may also scare them away. Leave lights on And TV on in room especially at night so your room looks occupied.

I’m always in before it gets dark . In Europe I tend to eat my larger meal at lunch and keep snacks in room unless I’m eating at hotel or cooking in an Air BNB.

I hide my cash in … and it’s actually kind of gross but that is the idea: inside of a ziplock bag with coffee stained white underwear 💩 . Most people won’t take the chance to open that lol 😅.

I’m planning a solo trip and don’t know what to do with the money immediately after I get from the exchange house as I can’t divide and stash right there in the shop? Also, do you advise to keep all your money on you the whole trip or leave some in the room (there is no safe in my accommodations)? Lastly, how do you style your hair on trips and what products do you bring? Loving your videos! 💖
@KRodCollective3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paula! Thank you for watching! I would wait until you get back home or to your accommodation to divvy out the money where you want it. When it comes to keeping all my money on me the whole time, it usually depends on the length of the trip for me. If it's over 2 weeks, I keep them in different/separate places. I sometimes keep things in ordinary spots but where people wouldn't think to look and I like to lock my suitcase as well when I'm going out, just in case. Whew, haircare is definitely a tricky one and I'm thinking of making a separate video about it. I personally don't do too too much with my hair when i travel so I just bring conditioner. Sometimes, I'll braid it or put it in a bun if it's doing too much, that way I can just not deal with it and just focus on my trip.

I always have some of the local currency on me upon arrival that lasts 2-3 days or longer. You may not get the best rate but I think it is good idea. Also have several means of transactions. ( money + debit or credit card( without foreign transaction fees) . Be aware that people watch people going up to money machines and withdraw funds. I only use them as last resort unless they are in a bank or enclosed area. In general I budget daily and hide money in several places on me but also in room and some not all in hotel safes and in locked suit case in room.
