@@CaptKenO I think Pieter is is asking why they didnt try lowering the outboard in the water and in gear to create some resistance to keep the boat straight. Might have at least been worth a try.

@@chrispearson6706 ah. I the outboards on a sailboat are so small I doubt it would have had any affect on keeping something with so much mass from moving about. Like a center console boat, definitely want that engine down. It's funny because people usually start with them down and sometimes they raise them for whatever reason, and I'll text them asking them to put their engine back down and they'll ask how did I know. Well, because all of a sudden you were going all over the place

I'm uniformed.....He broke his teller type rudder but still had an outboard rigged up that usually can act as a rudder simply by moving the Motor in rotation ???/ Maybe the outboard wouldn't start ????

Most of these sailboats can't really steer their outboards since they sit too low on the transom (some are fixed straight too)
