Been watching for years, from the start, and this is definitely one of my favorites of your adventures. Wow, wow, wow what stunning views on that hike. A landscape photographer's dream. It so reminds me of hiking my beloved Yosemite National Park, with its towering cliffs, impossibly beautiful vistas and crashing waterfalls. Then topped off by that perfect sail. Sitting there together arm in arm on that sail you both look so happy and alive. Great stuff, a bloody ripper, as the Aussies would say.

Another wonderful episode, loved every minute of it, thank you! Growing up in South Africa, I went to a boarding school in the country, not too far from the Northern Drakensberg, and we spent a number of weekends camping there, hiking those mountains and canoeing the rivers. I climbed that very same chain ladder to the top of the Tugela Falls when I was 16, and we camped in the cave at the bottom of the ladder the night before. But the Witsieshoek Road that you drove up there on (you cheaters! 😆) wasn't built back in 1973 when I did it, and we hiked all the way from the bottom, from the Rugged Glen Camp Site, all the way up in one day to the cave, then up the chain ladder and on to the top at first light the next day, and then hiked all the way back down after that, in order to get back to school and be cleaned up and in time for 6pm church service 😅. It was one heck of a challenge, but an adventure I've never forgotten. And then you went up the George, which I've hiked up twice, the last time with my wife and kids aged 4 and 7, and some other friends of ours, just a few months before we left SA in 1998 to mo ve to the USA. Memories that will last a lifetime, as I 'm sure yours will too, of this epic time you had in SA. Thank you for sharing all of this with us, you will never know the joy it brings to us South Africans, to see a couple like you two, enjoying and appreciating our country as much as we do. No wonder that all the ex-pat South Africans who have commented here, are all pretty homesick after watching these episodes. Blessings to you both, as always, you two are the best 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I sooooooo much enjoyed this presentation and thank you for showing us a wonderful part of Africa that so many of us will never see or experience. You captured it so well, you almost felt like you were there. Good on ya!!!!. Can't wait to see the next one, fair winds, calm seas and all the luck you deserve. 😊👍

The opening chapter of _Jock of the Bushveld,_ Sir Percy FitzPatrick, describes the ferocity and power of the storms in that part of the world. It is also imho the greatest dog story ever told. But it does use terms that today would be offensive, but time doesn't move backwards.

I am so happy that you visited the gorge as well and looked up at Devils tooth. You are diplomats for us. Your tenacity and energy is inspiring. I just hope I can see you enter Cape Town and berth at RCYC. There are more treats waiting for you. Like a mountain close to the sea and maybe a vineyard or two and a walk in Newlands forest.

You explored the area and took it all in, that is what travel is all all about. I know because as a pilot have traveled all over the world flying. Did I get to enjoy those places? Not often. There and back was most of the time. So when I did sail my Irwin 45 I made the most of every opportunity when going ashore for a new adventure. Be safe guys! 😁🛫

I was so looking forward to seeing Florence break her speed record, I thought she would be screaming down big rollers and we would all be shortening fingernails, but it was largely uneventful, it must have felt strange to be going that speed calmly. The Drakensberg (literally "Dragon Mountain") is a stunning mountain. It's also the source of one of South Africa's greatest rivers, the Orange, aka Gariep. It's a pity you couldn't get to visit the Blyde River Canyon in Mpumalanga, but I'm sure you'll enjoy mountain hikes up Table Mountain, to the summit of Lions Head and around the rest of the Cape Peninsula. The Wild Coast is known for its often dangerous sea states, usually after a few days of strong sou'westerlies against the strong Agulhas (pronounced Á-GULL-as) current running southwest along the coast, but it can be as mild a sea as anywhere :-)
