Dragons' Den

Күн бұрын

Samantha Gore returns to the Den with another anti-theft device, a retro-fitting curtain closer that adds an extra step to deter thieves whilst you're away from home. She's asking for an investment of £120k in return for a 20% equity stake in Saboteur Crime Prevention.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

My problem with these kind of inventions is that crime isn't a technological issue, it's a societal one. There won't be any invention that comes along and solves crime, and the more people that have things like this the less effective they become. The way to solve crime is to build a better society where people have less reason to do crimes and have more reason to care about others. It's that simple and the more we lock ourselves behind walls of locks and alarms and security devices the more people become isolated. She mentions "how people live today maybe a lot of them don't know their neighbours", well maybe they should go and meet their neighbours. Things like this only give people more of an excuse to not get to know the people around them which is ultimately going to increase their risk of being a target of crimes like theft or burglary.

At least it's a good advert, I helped my brother build a similar thing as a school project because I'm qualified in electronics and it worked but his curtain track system had one motor and opened two curtains,, that was 23 years ago,, he was probably the first to invent the system,, his model was for elderly people who could not close the curtains themselves

So you're saying a school child made, obviuosly with your help, for his school project, an invention that does what this does twice as well, while this 'inventor' has pitched the same thing asking for hundreds of thousands of pounds in investment who's going on 40 years old? Just makes this even worst tbh

@@fractale4322 yes and I had to redesign the open close factor because the 555 diagram was incorrect,, it was a simple solution based on the size of curtains and using the correct capacitor or variable to time the 555, good result, the simple solution was my brother missed out the reset, to the 555 so it only closed until I altered it just bridged it with low gauge wire 👍

Malcolm X's advice for anti-burgalry: always leave the bathroom light on when you leave the house. Leave your living room light on during your vacation? Bad idea - after a certain point its a signal you're gone. Leaving the bathroom light on? Effective deterrent: it's the only room in the house that might be used at any time of day or night.
