The auto helped it out, the tunes helped the type r. But of course the car designed to go in a straight line would win..is that even a question?
@Banana_Cognac2 жыл бұрын
Being an American, this is the funny thing about most of us...we only care about going in a straight line. The fact is, the R isn't designed to be a drag car. Sure, you can tune it and mod it to be, but it's designed to be a more affordable track car. On top of that, when driven normally, gets about 40% better fuel economy. Might not matter to everyone, but that's what makes the R fun. Good daily driver(economy/handling wise), that can also spend a weekend on the track. The scat pack is a boat, that goes fast in a straight line. To each their own, but these cars are for completely different mindsets.

@Inevitable_953 жыл бұрын
You missed the point of the video, scat may be heavier but it has 4 more cylinders and 4.4L more displacement = more HP/torque plus it costs more than the R, The R gives the Scat a run for its money in a straight line and can go to the track where it mops the floor with the scat, nice try though 👍🏼👏🏼
@taxinator58583 жыл бұрын
@@Inevitable_95 The weight difference is about 1,100 pounds, which is massive. The price difference between a 2020 Type R (starting at $37k and 2020 Scat (starting at $39k) is $2k…not small but not huge. It comes down to preference, does one want old school looks, sound, and performance versus fast n furious ricer looks with great overall performance. The exterior design takes away from a great vehicle…sometimes less is more.
@Inevitable_953 жыл бұрын
@@taxinator5858 The challenger has 100 more HP and torque, power/weight ratio slightly favors the type r but this video is a little 4 banger vs a beefy v8, plus the challenger in this video is $50k much higher than the type R, and idk why everyone calls the type R a ricer, a ricer is a wannabe fast car, but the R is one of the fastest cars around the track, it’s not a Toyota Corolla with a wing, give it its respect. Nothing against the Scat, but this tuned R is fast in a straight line and can post killer track time the Scat can’t. I value your argument but at the end of the day it’s a 4 banger bs the big bad v8

@@Inevitable_95 type r’s are 40k plus…so they are pretty much the same price as a scatpack….
@Inevitable_953 жыл бұрын
@@djzulumask2138 Scat packs here in Texas go for about $45k, up to $50k with markups on some colors or the 50th anniversary, the wide body scat is +$50k, my Honda dealer offered me a type R fresh off the truck for $38k which is MSRP. So $7k-$12k isn’t “pretty much the same” . I’m not trying to argue or invalidate anyones claim on which is the better car, I was simply saying a $38k R with $3k in mods performs nearly as well as a Scat.
