Sami was a true legend, his partneship with Henchoz was one of the main reasons the club became a major European force once again after a very lean spell. I'm sure Carra would admit thet Sami was a true mentor to him in his early years too. His power in the air, reading of the game along woth sheer guts and determination made him a genuine Anfield hero who also scored some very important goals (Juve in CL was the pinnacle). Probably the best defender we've had since the likes of Hansen and Lawrenson. Carra's been top for us too but Hyypia settled right away and him and Henchoz were rock solid and you could always rely on him to score a few headers each season. Agger and Skrtel are top defenders, more so Agger imo but they still have to show the consistency Hyypia did. Him and Hamann are 2 of the most underated players we've had.
