As an indonesian, I totally respect how u made rendang from scratch! I mean look at how u peel the coconut just to collect its milk! U could've bought the canned version, but u have chosen the fresh one (which actually creates better taste tho). And one more thing, cooking rendang needs patience... because the process of its cooking wastes more than 4 hrs *cmiiw, in order to get the right texture of dry yet moist meat! Well done bro^^

The "rendang" is the traditional dish from West Sumatra. The word "rendang" was derived from a West Sumatran verb "randang" or "marandang, which means "a method for cooking something for a long time until all the soup is dry at all". The West Sumatrans, or also called "the Minangkabau people" or the Minangs for short, liked to eat buffalo beef. Initially, long time ago, rendang was made with buffalo beef. That kind of meet is very hard and difficult to eat. The Minang people managed to find a way how to cook buffalo beef into food that could be eaten more easily. They cooked it with a lot of tropical spices, red hot chilli peppers and thick coconut milk, with the calculation: 1 kg of buffalo beef is cooked with coconut milk taken from eight big coconut fruits. They cooked it all in eight hours with wood continuously until the coconut milk was gone. This process is called "marandang". The result is called "randang". In Standard Indonesian, we call it "rendang". Today, it is difficult to get buffalo beef. People replace it with cow's beef. It is more tender than buffalo beef. So, they use less coconut milk in adjusting the hardness level of cow's beef. Therefore, they cook rendang only around four hours. When this traditional food has not cooked until really dried, or in other words, we still have the thick soup of it, we call the product "kalio". However, if we continue to cook it until the thick soup is completely gone and replaced by dark dregs, we call it "rendang". The Minang men have tradition of going outside their homeland in West Sumatra to far lands, including Malaysia. Minang women remain in their homeland, take good care of their homeland and the whole province becomes matrilinileal. Family's name is got from the mother's side. Women are the conquerors of this clean province. As far as I know, Minang people in Indonesia make rendang with fresh ingredients. However, Minang people in Malaysia make rendang with dried ingredients. That is a story about rendang that I know. I know this story from mouth to mouth. Long time ago, there was not any Internet connection or Whatsapp.

Hi, bro. Can you share how did you learn English effectively, so you could make all those sentences? Cause, even though, I memorized many vocabulary, I'm still having trouble at making a complete sentences like you did in this comment. I'll appreciate it, if you'd like to share 🙏
@ramamonato503910 ай бұрын
@@mecharenazed Learning English as a foreign language is a process, which needs many years. Initially, as a young teenager of thirteen years old, learning English for the first time when being a junior-high student, I made good use of book series of Singaporean "New Standard English Readers Books 1-8". These books had given me good understanding and strong motivation for continuing to learn English to the next level, which is harder. I started to focus on writing when I was a senior-high student. At that time, I read books of L.G. Alexander, let's say "First Things First", "Practice and Progress" and "Developing Skills" and it stopped there because I was so busy doing other things. When I was becoming a university student, these were my grammar handbooks: "Understanding and Using English Grammar" by Betty Schrampfer Azar and "Modern English Part 1 & 2" by Marcella Frank. My favourite dictionary was "Oxford Learner's Pocket Dictionary New Edition". I also read some books printed in Great Britain to learn differences between British English and American English, and found books and articles explaining Early Modern English grammar, the language of Shakespeare, although, in fact, I had found such articles when I was fifteen. While I was learning English grammar from these books, I practised my ability in writing: I wrote my diary book in English! I tried to follow all the grammar rules and I checked all sentences which I had just written to see if there were mistakes in grammar, spelling or punctuation. At that time, in 1990s, there were no KZbin, no Whatsapp and no Internet here, so I made good use of my diary book. Writing all daily activities in English is the power of learning English. Now, I can write English well, but I cannot speak it fluently. Nobody speaks English around me. To speak English is a different thing: it is more difficult because you have to be in a community in which all people speak English and we have to know all pronunciation rules, the most difficult part of it being to know where to put stress on the syllables found in a sentence. Southeast Asians do not stress any syllable of a word since our native languages are syllable-timed ones.

Oh you choose the right coconut (the older one) for rendang! And you make the coconut milk right! Respect! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 If you don't mind, i would like to share some tips: 1. for meat that much we usually use about 3-4coconut..it will give you more sweet & savory taste that will be absorbed by the meat..+a lot of dedak (the thicken sauce) which is so delicious to eat with warm cooked rice. 😊 2. Stir the rendang from time to time slowly from the bottom, do not just let it sit on fire & closed like that. *That's why we said "rendang is a food that needs a lot of patience"..cause you need to "babysit" rendang from start to finish (5-8hrs). You can't just leave it. 😁 3. Use *fresh chilli* instead of the dried one. It will give you a different result..the authentic one.😉 4. Using a lot of red onion will make your rendang sweeter, so be generous with it if you like it sweet. 😊 5. Use about 1-2 turmeric leave for tastier rendang. Thankyou for doing the challenge! 💜
