@@kjfacilities-maint - Kevin, we have such an ice dam in our unit that I cannot get the tray out. Do you know if turning off the ice maker turns off the cooling as well as production process? I'd like not to have to turn the whole fridge off. Again, thanks for this helpful video!

@MannikinFreezTag you can turn off the ice maker or unplug the wiring harness that goes to the ice maker.

I turned off the ice maker but that didn’t help. Had to just really commit with the steamer to get things to loosen up. Even when it looked clear as the eye could see, there was a strong block in the back between the cooling hose that was preventing the unit from sliding away from the hose.

Thanks for the video. Just curious if you noticed any improvement with the ice build up since changing out your ice maker?

Yes, there is little to no ice buildup now.

Respectfully request your assistance or tip: I can't get the plastic air tunnel to lock in place. Im pushing it up but there seems to be some resistance. The coil looks to be in place correctly. Thanks for video.

Make sure there is no ice anywhere that could impede the air tunnel. Make sure the slot in the back and the two slots in the front are fully engaging and that front tab should then click into place.

Wow thanks for the prompt reply. Got to the point when you try to jam something back in place nothing good comes out of it 😆. I'll take it back out and put it back in. The front two slots are in place.

So by the looks of it, you did not have to remove any items from the fridge or freezer to do this repair. Is that accurate? Our fridge is about 3 years old and I have had the part for about 2 yrs waiting on husband to replace.

Correct I didn't need remove any food or drinks from the fridge or freezer. The replacement maybe took 30 minutes +/-. Good luck with your project!

I bought my Samsung fridge in 2016 and it just started freezing up and water would come out before ice. I contacted Samsung and they requested a picture of the ice build up. They know this is an issue and there is a class action lawsuit due to the issue. Samsung sent out a tech at no charge to repair. They replaced the ice maker, ice maker tray, control board and possibly other parts. I suggest contacting them before purchasing any parts.
