Might cover the chrome hydraulic ram shafts so they don't get accidentally blasted. Also stop every now & again to spray undercoat on what you've blasted because bare metal rusts quick. I imagine the insides where you can't blast are even worse rusted.

They make wireless switches that you could use in place of that extra wire you use on your air hose so you would only need to use the air line itself and then a key fob to turn on whatever that wire does. That would eliminate some of the mess of hose and wire you always have to deal with.

Yeah but in emergencies the wire should have a deadman type handle if I drop the pipe it should shut down adding batterys and no link directly to the put can be dangerous if it loses signal etc

Hey Mick, I have watched most of your videos and you may have answered this question but I haven't heard it. How do you price your work? Here in the US, you pretty much have to get a quote on everything one piece at a time. I would think that it is much easier to price the job by time and materials, that way you don't mis judge how much time you will have in it. Also, there are many different degrees of surface prep. Some customers just want a quick once over and others want 3 times as much. Just wondering because I got tired of guess what it would cost me to get the work done. I bought a 375cfm sullivan and a 3 cubic feet clemco set up to do my own work and learn the process. I don't care to do it for other people but may hire my guys out when they have time.
@Mobileblaster Жыл бұрын
Everything will come with experience I know it's going to cost me and how long etc I add my labour and make sure the customer and you know what's exactly going to happen and how long it's likely to take don't try and compete with other quotes make sure you do a good job and your happy with your price that way you will win 👍 other words make sure your happy with your quote (would you pay that for the same service?) Don't undercut yourself as all your outgoings have to come out of your labour ie van tax services etc etc....

I have a few questions, though it's not about [industrial sand blasting] it's mostly sand blasting at home. but still you might be able to answer them: 0: I have a older dirt bike with [not much] rust on it, and i wanted to sand blast it off [gas tank and silencer / exhaust pipe. soem some small parts 0: i bought BLack Beauty to sand blast with, because it was cheap and literally no stores in my area had anything else. $20 for 60 pound bag. 0: i did use to sand blast the smaller parts first [heat shield for the silencer]. QUESTION TIME: 1: is it normal to discolor the metal. it seems the black beauty, while removing the rust also made the metal a light grey and kinda looked like rainbowish idk? i took some sand paper to it [like 120 grit? i think] it took this grey off and the metal was shiny under it. 2: should i switch to a different sand blasting media instead because of this discoloration, i need to / plan to Paint the parts afterwards and am unsure how this discoloration will effect it. [i tried soap and water and that did nothing to this grey ish coating that came from the black beauty media. 3: should i just bring this stuff to a place and have them blast it for me instead? -- the plan it to strip the paint and rust, then hit the parts [depending on the parts] with self etching paint, let it dry, lightly sand it with like 2000 grit, and coat it, and then 2000 grit again, and paint it [with some more steps after that.
@Mobileblaster8 ай бұрын
Not sure what black beauty is iron silicate? If so that's way too harsh for what you need. Saying that it will be OK if your not blasting at too high of psi or cfm don't worry about the dark gray results so long as the old paint and rust is removed blow of with air line and prim it should be fine 👍
@brianmiller99323 ай бұрын
Black Beauty is the trade name for coal slag abrasive. It does leave a dull gray surface after blasting. If you get all the dust off though, it will produce a good surface for painting. If you want a really clean white surface after blasting try crushed glass abrasive 40/70 grit (NOT glass beads). It should not be hard to find. In the USA it is available at Harbor Freight stores.

So what your saying is scrap the unit and built a new 1? Before that sounds like a negative reply please note alot more is going off than point and squirt alot of checks, experience and knowledge tells me the paint was water based and biodegradable the media used was none toxic and recycled. Please just enjoy the video and not worry about the stuff I don't show 👍 repair rather than replace 👌

@@Mobileblaster i know that repair rather than replace is a good thing to do and to replace that machine will have a bigger carbon foot print. Even if that paint is water based paint, how about the oil/grease and stickers? It is not much but it is some today, tomorrow and so on. There is options to do a job like that cleaner but it will be more time consuming and expensive. Like a heavy duty tarp under the machine or a ''on a spot rebuildable work area or paint booth. But still I enjoyed the time watching, even that I can still give you my feedback.

@i--dont--know yeah, I appreciate constructive criticism it's the way we all learn and find new things out as we go I can only give my side as to why I don't do those things I'm limited with the licence I have to carry any more equipment a pop-up booth would be ideal but the way I thought was if I research the paint media and find its none toxic and biodegradable it will eventually be like I've not been there. As for stickers and grease ideally, these should be removed beforehand but the time and effort needed would put this job over what's feasible and ultimately end up making the job too costly to do. Then I'm out of work it's hard enough finding work if I start putting a bill in for erecting pop-up tents etc I simply wouldn't get any work. It's a little bit harsh to say this sort of work shouldn't be allowed all I'm trying to do is put food on the table and document my work for others to enjoy

You should not be allowed to comment. Guy wasting electricity watching vids on youtube virtue signaling about carbon foot print, and micro plastics. Probably spending money on smart devices upgrading his phone/tvs every year. Does any one with a brain buy into what you're saying? Clearly you don't, simply bc you're commenting here. You probably voted to ban plastic bags from stores, while continuing to buy foods packaged in plastic containers, buying ziplock bags, sodas and upright freezers. Even when dude placates you (even though he should have just gave you the finger), you double down on criticism by moving goal post. Go virtue signal somewhere else.
