Donna Lynn Marie I don't know if you watched "Kevin Can Wait" or not. My family and I did. We liked it, not so much because of Kevin James character, but because we thought the one that played the wife was really good for the part. I thought she was funnier than Kevin. (We don't watch a lot of TV, but "Kevin Can Wait" was clean unlike many other sitcoms, so we decided to give it a chance) Then, as soon as Leah Remini made a guest appearance, they DROPPED the woman we liked so much in order to make room for Leah. I HATED Leah's character, even though I liked her in King of Queens. Everyone must have agreed with me, because it didn't take long for them to have to cancel the series since ratings dropped so low after that. If they had kept the wife on, instead of killing her off to make room for Leah, "Kevin Can Wait" would still be on TV. Not only did they lose a popular character, viewers don't like it when networks do such dirty things to people in the name of "higher ratings". That actually BACKFIRED on the network, since most comments I read afterwards said viewers didn't like Remini's character at ALL and missed the woman who played Kevin's wife! By the time the networks realized they'd made an AWFUL mistake, it was too late!! And I lost respect for Kevin James too. He should have put his foot down. He was the star of the show and had enough influence to say NO. He could have influenced producers to have Leah on as a (very occasional) guest star, and kept the cast as it started out. They barely mentioned the Mom later on, once they killed her off, except in a 60 second nod the oldest daughter gave to explain her disappearance from the show. Other than that, she was hardly even mentioned other than a punchline, even at her daughter's wedding, as if she NEVER existed.

I'm with you. I've been a Roseanne fan my entire life, back in the day I would ALWAYS be watching it. People liked it but anyone I knew didn't seem to ever tune in once, was shocking last year to see Roseanne of all series make a come back and hit top ratings. I still haven't watched a single one of the newer episodes. I can tell they were just trying too hard, Roseanne back in the 90s was just raw and genuine naturally. SteelCity1981 I was watching tv today, they had Tim Allen on, and he said that ABC told him that they are moving in a different direction. Fox 5 picked up his show. It would be nice if they gave Roseanne a show and air it the same time The Corners are on. May the best show win. Base it on how the Democrats act when they don't get their way would be funny as hell.

Yeah, Fox 5 should let Roseanne have a show on their network, and air it the same time their show is on, and see who gets the higher rating. Tim was told by ABC that they are moving in a different direction. If I were Tim, I would never do anything for them ever again. Tim didn't do a thing wrong for them to drop his show. I bet they did not explain what they meant to him by moving in a different direction, but I think I know why. More gay and lesbian shows. Ok fine, what they do in their private life is their business, but not everyone wants to see and/or watch this type of thing acted out on tv. I love the soap Days Of Our Lives, because back in the day, my Mother had it on. Now they have two gay acting guys on it, so with ABC saying they are moving in a different direction, I am thinking maybe they will show more gay and lesbians shows on their network. Maybe even The Conners show might turn out to be this way too.

to continue the show without roseanne is not going to be sucessful and here is why. the reboot of roseanne appealed heavily to conservative viewers, because roseanne's character was based on a conservative woman. you take her out of the equation now and the conservative viewers will stop watching, which made up for the vast majority of roseannes viewership.

I was reading something yesterday on Google about Roseann Barr. ABC is now kicking themselves in the ass for firing Roseann Barr and taking the show off the air. they said that instead of taking the show off the air and firing her they should of suspend her for a few shows... I believe the reason now that they are having second thoughts is because maybe they themselves feel that the spin off is going to fail.
