Sarah from the first time I found you on KZbin I have been totally blown away at how you go way beyond what needs to be done on a car or truck. The Supra is no exception. Whoever wins this car is going to have a cream puff. I hope a print out of all that you have done on this car and a video is included. That this is a Sarah build should add ten grand to the price on this car. Your standards blast through the ceiling.

Sarah, I sincerely hope you didn't hurt your hand too badly or break a bone. I once torqued my hand pretty bad and thought I only sprained it. Nope, broken bone. And the things you know about the suspension and all the extra trouble you're going to on this build -- amazing, just amazing.

Sarah - As a farmer who bangs and bashes himself on a regular basis, I can’t stress enough how helpful immediately putting ice on an injury can be. Whenever I smash something I grab the gel-ice from the freezer and take a 10 minute break. So much less swelling and pain! Thanks for another great video!

Sarah, please consider wearing safety glasses when you work under the car. There were a couple of moments when I winced, thinking of how you could have hurt yourself (with the coolant and while removing the sway bars). With fatigue, one becomes less attentive and one little mistake is all it takes. Please stay safe.

My 1985 Cressida had the same type of system and the nut that locks the shock insert kept coming loose. I was using Koni shocks I think. I used red locktite on the threads but it still came loose after a month and started a clunking noise. So what I did was I torqued that threaded locking nut and then I spot welded the nut to the housing. It never loosened up again. I’m so sorry your hand is bruised and I could see bruising up towards the index finger on both sides of the knuckle. Ice it up on and off for a day to see how it helps. The car looks beautiful. Great job. 🌹🏁

The last video on my channel is one where I converted sealed struts to rebuildable struts. After that process, welding on the perches and adjustable collars is the same process as what Charlie did on your fronts. I actually even used MA67 Supra front struts for the part I needed to do the conversion!
@cjohn64 Жыл бұрын
The factory front struts had oil in the strut tubes. The workshop manuals had instructions for putting oil in them when using factory components. Which is probably why you found oil on the old ones when you removed them.

Having oil in the strut tower is not always a sign the insert was leaking, we used to place a small quantity of oil in them when rebuilding to help dampen possible noise and vibrations.

This is my favorite Supra (Celica Supra) model. I wish there were more that survived over the years around here. I saw one in Wichita KS a few months back, but it probably shouldn't have been on the road, it was a rust bucket. For wheels I'd have to go with the 15" versions of the 8 spoke factory wheels. They are just too iconic to the car to not be included, in my opinion. Top notch upgrades as well!

Just a bit help: for blown hood/trunk shocks there is a little tool that can clamp on to hold it up, or in absence of that can accomplish same with a rag and gently clamp down on it with a vise-grip. Then at reassembly you figured it out yourself. In the most respectful way: love the struggle! Super hard working person, you kick ass!

Small note of doing the cutting of the front strut bodies. You should be cutting them by 40mm, PAST the threaded section, then weld them back together with the threaded section. I did the same conversion to my RA64 chassis Celica, and the two share the same front strut casings. I do very much recommend getting Roll Center Adjusters as well, to get the lower control arm geometry corrected, so you dont get nasty bump steer! Love the content 🙏
