Bang on with the driver fairway wood shaft comparison my driver being a stiff flex and fairway woods regular for whatever reason it just works for me then again I'm just short of 64 years young and it only took me about 20 years to find what works for me on a good day obviously

I bought two Radspeed 5 woods, they are so good to use. And I bought them both for bargain prices in Japan. They still look current, amazing from the first cut, and if you really compress on it from the tee you can make it into a 3 wood, such is the forgiveness.

Now I'll make you laugh. For the last 3 weeks my 3-wood of choice has been a King Cobra M Speed Offset in a ladies flex, purchased from GolfClubs4Cash for £19.99!!! It launches well every time and goes 180 yards! What's not to like???

@@bn9983 I've been very surprised how well I hit this ancient 3-wood!! I also have a Cobra F6 ladies 3/4 wood (17°-20°) set at 19.5°, and a Cobra F6 ladies 5/6 wood (21°-24°) set at 24° that I pinched out of my wife's golf bag (ironically, she prefers Senior flex woods! So we swapped!!). I added a couple of strips of lead tape either side of the back (heavy) weight on both of them, and I now hit high-launching, straight shots, the 19.5° carrying 170 and the 24°carrying 160. I'm getting on a bit, and my driver swing speed is only 80mph, but these clubs work for me, and I still play off 15. Oh, and the driver is a Callaway Rogue, with (you will probably have guessed) a ladies shaft in it, that I hit 190-200. So, I'd encourage you to try a ladies shafted Cobra 7-wood and see what happens! Some of them are "cheap as chips" (the F6's are £50-£60) so it's worth experimenting at that sort of price! My TS2 7 wood, Reg flex but my driver is stiff verging on needing x flex, but the 7 wood is 205 carry and straight every time. Best club in the world!

5 wood and 7 wood lofts can vary greatly, especially adjustable ones. When reviewing can you mention the actual lofts please. Great vid good advice.

Yeah should have stated, but typically 5 woods are 18 degrees 21 - 22 degrees for a 7 wood, but as you say can vary. This 7 wood was 22 degrees

F8 is a great club especially if you can find the 3-4w club. Have one in my bag and have played with the loft to increase slightly so it’s easier to get off the deck on long par 4/5’s. Lots of confidence with the F8. The rails also seem to help with turf interaction when from the fairway.

Cobra LTDX 3 wood and 5 wood less than £180 for both, best fairway woods I’ve had, I have tried them all and struggled, I play the 3 wood at 16 degrees and 5 wood at 20 degrees to gap to 4 iron

Loved this video, that last point i think is key. Decide what you need/want from your clubs and work back from there. That said still loving my Wilson staff F5 3 wood i got for £30 :)

Agreed tried them all different heads and shafts, F9’s,radspeed, LTD and Aerojet…some real bargains out there…. Alternate between 5&7 wood depending on how windy it is..(links course)… loft is definitely your friend around 80mph swing speed.

I play my driver in stiff, I have Cobra Ltdx max fairways in 5 and 7 wood with regular shafts. Hit them straight and we’ll probably 60% of the time. The other time I will hook them left 30% and sometimes fade way right 10% of the time. Wish I would have got the regular Ltdx head. I had the 3 wood in same model and sold it. The 5 and 7 have the runners on the bottom while the 3 wood doesn’t. I couldn’t hit the three wood straight hardly at all. Sprayed that right and left.

I’ve just sold my cobra Aerojet 5 wood and got a ping g430 max 7 and 5 wood. The cobra was unreal but I didn’t like the loft options on it and needed a 4 iron distance club

The timing of this video is insane lol I just got a 5 wood and 7 wood in the mail today 😂 To be fair though I already have a 5 wood in the bag with my driver and I love it, the one that came in today was just in the purchase to get the 7 wood I wanted, but I was considering replacing my 22 degree 4 hybrid with that 21 degree 7 wood and having that and my 5 wood in the bag with the driver. That would be it for the woods, not currently gaming a 3 wood, so I should steer clear of using both in the bag? Just been struggle to hit hybrid for some reason lately and felt 7 wood would be better and similar.

@@VideosbyStew I'm In the LTDx Driver (I basically moved for the blue head) and 5W, love them both. Moved the Velocore shaft from the F9D to the LTDx, I do like it better, but that 3W is gold so it's not going anywhere.

great video Simon I think we can all relate to 3 & 5 wood combo however never really optomising use of the 3 wood due to its lower loft and diff off the deck . a more recent offering, the introduction of the 4 wood 16.5 deg giving you versatility both off deck and tee this results in redundancy in 5 wood and a 21 deg hybrid now being its replacement. I struggle with any irons > 5 iron. your thoughts on this would be appreciated. when are we seeing a Simon witb?

TS2 3 Wood. Best fairway wood ever made, and relatively inexpensive rn. I've compared to many FW's and it blows them outta the water. Don't know about the GT woods yet tho

I'm stuck for something between my 3 wood and 4 iron. 23 yard(average) distance between the two, if I hit my 4i well. 3 hybrid, an old Brosnan, is 17 yards behind my 4i. Let's say in a normal gave there is 30 yards between 3w and 4i, what should I look at for the gap? Average ball speed for 3w is 152mph and 4i is mid 130's. Dispersion isn't too bad.
