With most SNL hosts, even if their monologue is pretty good, there's a kind of constant tension as you expect them to fall flat, and when the monologue is over, a sense of relief. With Mulaney, there's none of that, he's just effortlessly funny, it's like breathing for him; it's such a joy to watch!
