I know a lot of northerners that eat grits. But I'll admit that I get excited when they really know how to make them.

I’m from Texas which I guess is more west than south because I’ve never had grits nor red-eye gravy though I’d like to try. But most of my ancestors come from Tennessee and Georgia, so I love getting to learn about true Southern cooking from you. You make it look so easy. I especially appreciate your bubbly personality and your very southern voice, reminds me a lot of the women on my father’s side-always cooking, caring for people, and laughing.

Hello Tammy and Chris. I was raised in Long Island New York, and yes my Family and many others are grits . Mostly on weekends. My Mother would cook us fried Fish and grits as well as her homemade biscuits for our Breakfast! Yes, we also ate oatmeal, cream of wheat, and cold cereal during the week for Breakfast. We also ate Hominy too! I am an Older Woman and in my era, there were a ton of People who had Parents like me who were raised in the South. For my Mother it was Georgia and for my Father it was North Carolina. My Mom and her Mother were some of the best Southern Food Home Cooks, and we use to eat really, really good! In NY we use to buy our grits from a store called A&P (Ann Page). There are a ton of People up there with Southern Roots! Many of the kids that I grew up with, would go "Down South" for the summer, to be with their Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts. There was nothing like a biscuit with butter, and some old fashioned molasses syrup!😄

I just had supper and this is making me hungry. 🤤 I LOVE a big country breakfast on the weekends! Eggs, bacon, sausage, homemade biscuits, waffles, sausage and/or tomato gravy, fried taters, a fruit bowl, juice, milk and coffee.

Tammy: You are SO right about Swaggerty's. I tried them because of your recommendation and fell in love. They remind me of the sausage my grandfather made homemade on his farm. When I moved from South Carolina, I couldn't get it and nothing could compare! Now I'm in Australia. They don't eat sausage patties- only sausage links and they are not "sagey" or spicy enough for this Southern girl. Thanks for sharing your amazing videos!!!

I keep Swaggertys in my freezer. Easier for patties than cutting a tube. Really love the flavor.
@sandrawilde60882 жыл бұрын
We have found that if you keep the tube in the freezer , then put it in the fridge the night before you want to use it that it will thaw just enough to make it easy to cut. It is so easy. Cut the whole tube then what you don't use, put paper between each one and put it back in the freezer. Works for us!

You have cooked my most favorite meal in the whole world! The only change I would make is I would put salt in my grits as they are cooking and leave off the sugar. Butter is the only thing I would add. I love mustard and/or grape jelly with my sausage too! And Swaggerty’s is the best sausage I’ve ever been able to find. I would gain weight eating very much of that meal though. The other thing that is so helpful to you is you have a nice work surface for rolling out biscuits, pastry, etc. Unfortunately, my little kitchen is so small and discourages me from making biscuits. Oh well, probably a good thing in my case. Have a good day and thanks for making my mouth water!!

Ive got to say, I must be a southerner in my soul. Born and raised in northern Ohio, but my Mother (with West Virginia influence) had made us grits since I can remember. If I see fried grits on a menu (which is rare in these parts) its what I order. I havent made grits for about for ever, but its in my pantry lol. Hearty congratulations on your sponsorship from Swaggertys! It just so happens I am really, really picky on sausage, but dont you know I bought Swaggertys on a whim from a Save-a-Lot a couple of years ago? I havent gone back to another sausage, its just that good. I NEED HELP, I can NOT find White Lilly flour locally. Ive even gone to the Walmart site in Georgia to try to buy it! I could easily eat sausage and egg biscuits every day, AWESOME video Tammy and Chris. God bless you guys. Shirley.

Hi Tammy, I've been watching your videos for a few months now, and I laugh sometimes because your cooking style is a lot like mine like, for example, setting a utensil on the side of a pan instead of spending money on a spoon holder. I decided to try Swaggerty sausage patties based on your recommendation. I wasn't sure if they were even available at Food Lion here in Maryland, but they were! I have to say they are REALLY good, and I will continue to be a Swaggerty customer. Thanks for all of your wonderful videos. You make us feel like family ☺❤

@@CollardValleyCooks Not just great on biscuits. STICKY CHICKEN WINGS (Not my recipe) "4 lbs Chicken Wings 2/3 Cup Steen's Cane Syrup 2 Tsp Minced Garlic 1/4 Cup Worcestershire Sauce 1 Tbsp Creole Seasoning Blend 1/2 Tsp Cayenne Pepper Sauce Leaving the skin intact, cut chicken wings into drums and flats, discarding the tips. Place wing pieces in an instant pressure cooker pan coated with cooking spray. In a bowl, whisk together the syrup, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning and pepper sauce. Set the pressure cooker on high pressure and cook for 15 minutes. While the cooker is releasing pressure, preheat oven to broil. Once pressure is released, use tongs to carefully place wings onto a baking sheet lined with foil. Baste wings with sauce and sprinkle tops with creole seasoning. Broil 5-7 minutes, being careful not to allow the wings to burn. Remove from oven and place wing pieces on a serving dish. Devour!"

I couldn't agree with you more about Swaggerty's...truly delicious! On a video a while back you cooked some sausage and I saw the box...went right out and bought some and fell in love. ❤️ I do cook my a little different because I wasn't sure how to cook from frozen since the box suggested thawing them. I put them on low for about a minute on each side and then turn up the heat. Works well for us. I really like the convenience of just taking out the number of patties we need for that day and the taste is THE BEST!! Just one more thing you've introduced to our home that will be a staple from now on. Haven't tried making red-eye gravy with them, but definitely going to soon!
