In this video I try out some hand loads and review the Savage 110 Varmint in 22-250 with the new Accufit stock. This rifle is topped with the Redfield Revenge 4-12x (sadly discontinued). All of the loads were with H4350, Nosler Brass, CCI BR-2 Primer, and the 53gr Nosler Varmageddon 2.35" OAL. This all seems to be a tack driving combination! To follow up, I received the improved extraction kit and now the bolt ejects flawlessly. Thanks for watching! I appreciate your honest reviews. Many "reviewers" get the products they review from the manufacturers and, to their credit, some mention that the product being reviewed was "supplied" by the manufacturer, many don't mention the "sourcing." A product supplied by the manufacturer may not be in the same "condition" as the one a consumer would get off the shelf. When the reviewer tells me he bought the rifle with his own money my level of confidence in the review is much higher. Thank you for your service to the community. Best regards.

Thanks. And I agree, I'm not a sales rep for any company. Some reviews just feel like a promo for whatever the rifle is. I did get the SSS extractor for this rifle and now it's ejecting fine so far. This should have been an unnecessary purchase but for what I paid for this rifle I am thoroughly impressed with everything else about it.

Awesome! Well at least you have a rough idea what bullet it likes. The 53gr Varmageddon seems to be working great. I wouldn't hesitate to try the 50gr V-max either. I have a feeling that this rifle will shoot anything under 64gr very well because of the 1-12" twist. Let me know how it works for you.

I also have extraction problems with my Savage Model 12 FV in .22-250. Like yours mine also shoots great! I don’t understand how Savage can have problems with basic extraction out of the box when the design of this rifle dates back many years and should have all the kinks worked out. I just discovered your channel and subscribed today. Looking forward to catching up on your old videos and seeing the new ones as they come out. Keep up the good work!

very nice review, I have a new Savage Model 110 Long Range Hunter with the accufit stock in .300 WSM on layaway until Sept. 4th when I get paid and will pay it off, I hope it shots well like this one did for you, but NOT have the extractor issue. My one and only rifle that I have until this one comes in is an old Savage Model 110 (late 90s) with the wood stock in .270 Win and has never had issues with extracting, but of course when I am sighting it in I usually just grab the empty brass out after opening the bolt not try and fling it like an AR-15 would. I may had to pay more attention to that next time, but it really hasn't bothered me. My next centerfire bolt action caliber after I get the .300 WSM is most likely the 22-250, no one in my immediate family has that caliber and coyotes have become more and more prevalent around where I live. Thanks for sharing.
@ChuckinTV
@ChuckinTV 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't think you'll be disappointed with the 300WSM. If you do run into extraction problem you can get the SSS improved extractor kit. This rifle has worked 100% since I put it in. It is about 20$ That's money that shouldn't be spent, but there you have it. We have done a TON of content with this rifle since this video, so I hope you'll check out some of the other ones. There's a playlist in my channel for this rifle. This became my favorite rifle for it's continued accuracy and effectiveness on woodchucks. Happy shooting!

@@ChuckinTV you are welcome, and I don't believe that I will, but if I do I will definitely check the kit out. I am glad to hear/read that the rifle has worked 100% since installation. I will have to check out that playlist on your channel for sure. I like to reload too and plan on doing so with both the .300 WSM and eventually the 22-250 if and when I get one, whether it be a Savage or whatever quality brand I can find a deal on.

I ended up getting the SSS extractor kit following this video. I haven't had a single extraction problem since. The extractor itself was weak and wouldn't hold on to the case long enough to get it out of the action. I have experience with a few different Savages now and even when they "work" the extraction is weak. I shot a Ruger American recently that threw the shells out no matter how you run the bolt. TC Compass and Tikka are the same way. On the positive side, Savages are crazy accurate and pack a lot of great features in an affordable package. So another 20$ for an extractor is a worthy investment.

@ChuckinTV 3 жыл бұрын
I got this one locally but it isn't picitinny. It is a Weaver one piece. I actually ditched this and got a set of two piece Nikon bases for like 7$. The problem I had with this rail was that the front screw was so long that it rubbed on my bolt. You should be able to find a pic rail for a Savage 110 just about anywhere online.

@@ChuckinTV I am of the opinion that full length rails also tend to cause spent case and cartridge ejection issues. That slab laying right on the top of the ejection port on a standard bolt action rifle, versus the extra clearance you get between scope and port with a two piece mounting system, in all likelihood interferes with the process to some degree, by knocking them back down into the rifle. Weak ejectors notwithstanding, I only use one piece rails for mounting accessories on my AR style rifles. I own a Savage Hunter chambered in 6.5×284 Norma. A bigger case but I have the scope mounted with two piece rings and mounts. It kicks 'em outta there like a tenant two months behind on the rent. Never heard of "weak" electors in any of the myriad brand of rifles I own. My guess is changing out that rail, may have contributed just as much as anything else to your problem solving. In any event, good you got it fixed. 👍🏿

@@ChuckinTV same here; my gunsmith wanted a look at this 6R rifling and I wanted to see how light the trigger was from the factory so when it arrived, I cleaned the bore (took forever to swab clean) as well as verified the 1 in 12 twist and took the gun to him. Trigger broke 3 times in a row at 1.5 pounds and I love it. I have not found any load that this gun won't shoot 1/2 MOA or less. Very impressed as this is on par with my LRPV model.
