So glad you enjoyed your trip to Savannah. We live an hour south of Atlanta. If you haven’t already visited Hilton Head Island, SC. and Charleston. You have to visit you would also love it there. We visited your beautiful city two years ago when our daughter and her husband adopted a newborn baby. What a blessing he has been to our family. Glad you enjoyed your visit.

What a lovely area for you and Mike to explore together. Outside the United Airline debacles, it seemed like a relaxing, beautiful and interesting getaway! Hope you feel better soon.

Wow deja vu! We love Savannah! Our fave driving trip (from eastern NC) is to drive to Charleston, SC and spend a few days (the food and the horse drawn tours are so good!), then drive to Savannah, GA. In both places we parked our car and got around with fun public transport and an occasional uber ride. We loved the "trolley tours" narrated by the drivers, it was the FIRST thing we did, and it set the tone for a LOVELY lively time in Savannah :) Our favorite experience there was visiting the Savannah history museum and being part of the Battle of Savannah reenactment tour- I am 63, dh is 69, and we had to hustle but it was so much fun! Here's a little bit about it from a description: "The Battle of Savannah reenactment tour is amazing! The museum is part of a pick 3 pass that includes the Georgia State Railroad museum, the childrens museum, and Old Fort Jackson. This is a great value for severally days worth of entertainment and "hands-on" history. I would recommend for everyone to take this tour and experience some important milestones in U.S. history.Aaron MartinJul 7, 2017 " For us: after an entertaining lecture we followed the "soldier" out onto the actual field where it took place, all of us holding a wooden rifles and whatnot... the head guy was talking and yelling instructions- at one point he told an old man he was shot, and this fellow like 80 dropped and splayed, I was impressed! It was hilarious. In reality many men were lost, as was the battle. The rest you'll just have to see for yourselves, it was a vivid highlight of our trip, good for any age. The downtown shopping area was great (near Leopold's ice cream) is totally fun to spend time experiencing. In the downtown art district there is a four block open are market since the 1700's with shopping, dining and artworks in restored warehouses that we enjoyed.

Oh Marnie, Savannah is our favorite place to get away. I live in North Ga. Grew up in Waynesboro which is 100 miles north of Savannah so it's a piece of my heart. My husband and I love anything about Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Good to know they are working on the house because I was headed down there after a visit with my mother soon. When you go back one day, please, please have lunch at The Pirate House. Its one of the oldest buildings in GA. Their food is classic Southern and soooooo good. Looks like you stayed in a very nice area. I love Tybee as well but last time we went in July it was so crowded and over 100 degrees. Did not stay long at all. St. Patricks Day is a big celebration there as well. Did you go to Riverstreet?
