Saving a Free Peugeot 306 GTI 6 from the scrap

In this video we get started on re commissioning the Peugeot 306 GTI free car.
Working at our fully equipped workshop in Kent we carry out tasks including Panel beating, Body work, Mig Welding, Sheet metal Spot Welding, Fabrication, Chassis Repairs, Sand Blasting, Engine and Mechanical repairs, Reconditioning, Restoration and Structural repairs on the Celette Jig Dozer frame machine.

90's Peugeot GTI's were cult heroes. I'm not surprised you've got so much attention! They're beautiful cars with outstanding unmatched performance in their class at the time. I had 306 Rallye, I'd give anything to have it back.

Had a 306 as my first car over 20yrs ago. Was only a 1.4 due to insurance. Engine was useless but the handling was sublime. Can't believe you picked this up for free. Great to see it being restored

I had a 306 GTI-6 from November 1999 until I sold it in 2006. Mine was black and I absolutely loved it! Please guys restore the car. Feel very sentimental looking at this fantastic machine 😊

I think it's a wonderful thing that you do. So many of the cars I grew up seeing are rare sights now as most are just left to be scrapped. Pre internet days meant that my mum's MK1 fiat Uno had to be scrapped due to a failed starter motor and no scrap yards having one! Just glad there are people saving old cars!

Absolutely loved this video! Sad story obviously for the owner, but it's almost like he's looking down on a fabulous handling car. 306 was the car that finally emulated the handling of an Alfasud 20 years later. I've got a Sud and I love it!!!

VTX ROO I loved them, had so many, started with a moonstone HDI, loads of 1.8 XS, 2.0 XSI’s, I only had one GTI 6. Would love a mint Astor GTI 6 but they are so rare these days. Even the owners club forum is so quiet

VTX ROO I didnt even know there was a ph3, I knew them as pre and post face lift, I like the earlier ones but just like when I bought my first saxo, clean ph1’s are hard to come by in comparison.

The good thing with this Rob is that thing like doors, latches, windows etc are all shared with all the models of 306s so you should be right for parts. Looking forward to see how you guys go with it. Love the channel by the way. Watching from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia!

My brother bought one of these when they were brand new and on the same R reg in racing green I remember he picked me up from school on the day the R reg came out and all the kids were looking thinking WOW! Great car! Love to see it being rebuild. It was my dream car when I was 20.. I owned one, but lost it on a stupid accident.. last year I bought another 306 gti 6 which right now is suspended in garage, but I'm rebbuilding it with my girlfriend, she loves the car and when she has her licence she is going to drive it. love from Holland

A link to the original recovery got posted on the 306 GTi 6 and Rallye forum. What a find! 😎 I might be a bit biased but it's definitely worth saving. The value of these has shot up in the past couple of years and they are a great drivers car. I'd just be careful with the timing belt - these were known to snap and it's advised to change every 40k/4 years maximum. You'll find loads of great information on the forum I've mentioned or on one of the Facebook groups 👍 great work guys and I hope to see more videos soon!
