Tried this for a family meeting, absolutely delicious crisp on the outside, delicious, and soft filling. The only difference is i add thinly sliced garlic in the oil used to cook white part of the scallions, then remove it before oil get too hot.

Hi Alistair...i was wondering did u find the five spice powder and sichuan pepper over powering?...btw adding garlic is brilliant idea.

@@dustbean indeed for people not accustomed with Szechuan pepper it'll create unpleasant taste and aftertaste, i used very little of it compared to salt and and scallions, when i serve it is served with blended salt and ngo hiong as a side condiment, at least that's how my wife extended family does.

I made this to bring to a friend's house and it quickly disappeared! I followed the exact steps they came out crispy on the outside and so soft in the inside. Every recipes comes out beautifully from 小高姐!

Mixing the scallions with the flour and five spice mixture is a really smart technique! Every time I've tried making scallion pancakes I've had the scallion pieces go everywhere when I try to roll up the dough. This is a much better way to make these than what I was doing. Thanks!
