9:20 Hooooold up. So as far as we know, the protagonist (Ethan? I forget already) is a normalish human being, married, but his wife went missing a few years ago. It's portrayed from a first-person perspective, so you are expected to fully put yourself in his shoes. You've just got word from someone saying that they're your wife, that she's alive, and then you should go get her, with *zero* further information or confirmation *whatsoever*. First off, the fact that you didn't call the cops *immediately* is already dumb as shit, but it's sort of accepted for horror film/game characters not to be sensible so I'll allow it. Then, you go there, it's a fuckin' creepy ass mansion in the middle of fuck-knows-where, you find a magazine that says "join us" in what looks like blood, a sign on a rusty old fence that says "accept her gift," written also in a blood-like substance (could be red ink but this is the middle of bum-fuck nowhere so you can't really know what to expect). You traipse through the swamp for a short moment and then run into that. How is what's-his-face not immediately convinced this is some sort of really, *really* fucked up joke and turns around to walk away (preferably to go back to the nearest police station and get them to investigate because fuck getting involved yourself)? Because I can suspend my disbelief quite far, but you're asking me to stretch it across the Pacific Ocean there. 0/10 immersion = ruined.

Have you ever been married? Because if you were and it was someone you really loved, you'd do anything for them. You wouldn't turn away from something because it looked like a joke, especially not when you have no reason to believe there's anything supernatural going on. After all you're a normal everyday person. The very idea of calling the cops is fucking ridiculous. What are you going to say? I received an email from my three years dead wife telling me to come and get her? Yea because any self-respecting cop would waste time out of their day to investigate that. At best, they do nothing. At worst, they assume you're making a prank call. The consequences of a prank call to 911 differ from state to state, but it's not gonna go in your favor. Even if by some slim chance they did believe you, they'd still do fuck all because it would get caught up in MONTHS if not YEARS of red tape.

When someone is missing for three years, people in society try to help find that person, you at least would have someone go with you to help see if it was bullshit or not, and you would inform the society who helped you look for a long time that you got a message that she's in this place etc. I don't know maybe this is just a British thing but you wouldn't go somewhere secluded by yourself, see creepy shit and carry on, love is one thing but stupidity is why this does fit under the category of typical horror/slasher scenario. If your telling me you'll go into someone's backhouse uninvited, in a creepy house, then boy your gonna need a HAND :P
